We run an organic vegetable farm in the Cevennes alongside the river l'Herault and for the past six years have been registered with wwoof which has generated many lasting friendships, however there is so much work so .........any helpxers out here interested in joining us aswell?
Our crops are grown on mountain terraces and sold in our two communal farmshops. (Montpellier and Nimes - see website) and during the summer months we take part in several evening winefestivals where we cook 'onion bhaji's'.

HELP with and when:

March: more seeding planting, seeding our onions, some harvesting.
April: planting out, weeding, harvesting (salads, salad leaves)
May: it all really gets hectic now, we plant our 'legumes du soleil' we weed, we harvest.
June: tending to all the crops, more harvesting and mid June our winefestivals start!
July: We are in full harvest season, winefestival season. Work on the farm and on the markets, deliveries of fresh produce to our 2 shops twice a week.
August: Full season, harvesting, markets, converting produce
Our main crops are: 'Oignons Doux des Cevennes', tomatoes, aubergines, peppers, courgettes, french beans, salads, salad leaves, strawberries et much more. We also transform these into jams and chutneys to be sold on local markets together with our onion 'bhajees'
September/October: Onion harvest(beginning of September), continuing to harvest vegetables, preparing land for winter crops and farmers markets on weekends. Converting produce into chutneys/jams/sauces etc.

Summer 2015 we added free range rare breed pigs to the farm. We have just had another litter of little Tamworth piglets. We now have four sows and one boar and supply our meat to our two farm shops (Montpellier and Nimes)

We are renovating many of the old stone buildings. We both have a lot of experience in building with previouis careers in interior design, renovation, carpentry and joinery.

HOUSING: sleeping arrangements are basic, we have 2 caravans (small trailers) set up on the land for our volunteers + One caravan in which you can prepare simple food and drnks.. So things might be basic but .... In t he summer we have a max of 3 volunteers at a time. A lot of laughter, discussions, hard work and good fun.
Hosting people can be very rewarding apart from the obvious help that it brings. We take our lunch and dinner together in our family kitchen.

I like people to have a decent amount of common sense and be able to after a little while take responsibilities and show initiative. Absolute minimum stay 2/3 weeks. Look forward to hearing from you!
