THANK YOU TO ALL THAT HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT OVER THE PAST MONTH OR SO AND APOLOGIES FOR NOT REPLYING TO YOU ALL. IT HAS BEEN A DIFFICULT TIME LATELY WITH MY FATHER PASSING BUT I HOPE YOU SHALL BE BACK UP AND GOING SHORTLY.

I SHALL UP-DATE THIS LISTING SHORTLY

We live in a truly beautiful part of the country on the Welsh border. The Forest of Dean is in Gloucestershire and is between the river Severn and the river Wye, the area use to be a mining one and is full of history, character and life. We are an hour away from Bristol, and hour away from Cardiff and an hour and a half from Birmingham.

My family has a smallholding producing fruit, meat, vegetables, etc for ourselves. I have recently moved from the family home (but am still very close) and have three allotments, a flock of ex-commercial hens, goats and a garden but my family have sheep, cows, rabbits, dogs, geese, ponies and donkeys.
My house over looks farmland and is on the edge of a busy village with a small supermarket, butchers, post office, hairdressers, pub, campsite with cafe and secondhand charity shop. My families smallholding is approx. 3 miles away in a tiny village with woodland to one end of the village and farmland at the other. My allotments are between the two.

About me; My name is Poppy, I am 25 years-old and live with my boyfriend, Rhys, and our 3 cats. I have tried to learn lanuages other than English but none of them seem to stick! I am interested in permaculture, biodynamics and sustainable living. I am a vegetarian, Rhys is not. I am very keen to meet new people interested in the same sort of things as me and learn about different place.

Where I am and the help I'd like; We are on one of the main bus routes from Gloucester. There is a train station in Gloucester and also in Lydney however the one in Lydney isn't very easy to get to or from. I work four days a week and so would mostly like help at weekends. I think (although I am new to all this!) that I would prefer short term stays of a week or so and people of the same sort of age as me at least to begin with. I would like help with lots of different things as well as day-to-day stuff but don't expect to much, a couple of hours of help a day is all I ask in return for a room and evening meal.
I have wireless internet, shower and a bath, washing machine (no tumble drier but lots of clothes airers and an outside line) that you are welcome to use whilst you stay.

These are some of the jobs I currently want help with, they may well have changed by the time August comes around but will give an idea of what kind of things need doing:

- Clean out animal sheds (this will be at our smallholding which is my mothers house)
- Set up vegetable garden at my house
- Clean pony field
- Fix fencing on field
- Move chicken shed and put up lean-to (this will be at my allotment)
- Set up rain collection at my mothers house, my house and allotments
- Set up composting at my house
- Planting, sowing and weeding

Photos are of; some of my hens and cockerel, one of our sheep cleaning her new born lamb, the woods where I walk the dogs (they are maybe a 10minute walk from my mums house), my allotments at the beginning of the year, me potting on some seedlings. I have more photos of where I live, etc on my photos account, see link above.
