Hello fello Helpxérs. We have a VACANCY from Dec 19th - come join our small family at this silly season time of year. It is especially handy if you have your own Van (You can park it in the biggest shed in Brisbane and set up house outside the Van very comfortably and scenically - over looking our Peaceful Valley. Tapped water, BBQ, Fridges, table and chairs set up.

OUR DREAM - we have 88 acres in semi-rainforest country with 2 creeks where we hope to start building Glamping Tent style Cabins in the new year. Can you build a Pizza Oven? An outdoor bathroom, work with stone and build a stone wall? or Plant up a garden area? or simply help us cut the grass which grows in this summer / wet season. Become part of our dream to Help us turn our property into a sought after destination offering time out from the busy schedual of life to rest amongst our native bush and creek setting. This journey requires a team approach, already our helpers have contributed significantly to the development process and towards building a sense of community here.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR ....... With summer we really appreciate help with keeping the grass mowed and whipper snipping and pulling weeds - sounds a bit routine - and yes this essential routine is the jewel that helps improve the quality of our property and summer is the ideal time to put nutrients bank into the ground and improve soil quality. We can teach you to use the ride on Mower so we have a balance of gentle and manual tasks. Prior farming experience would be helpful, BUT NOT ESSENTIAL.

We also have Fruit to be picked - and pickled if you are keen. We would love help with taking our dogs dogs for a walk. We have a child so some creative fun around cooking, singing, making is also appreciated if this is your talent.

During quiet times we welcome you to relax in our creek, enjoy listening and watching the birds, insects and millions of Caper Butterflies currently migrating. We also enjoy cooking, music, sharing stories, crafts such as mosaic tiling, weaving.

OUR WORK EXPECTATION .... 28 hrs help over 7 days. SO -> 5 1/2 hours work a day for 5 days; it is day light at 4.30am and hot at 5am - so best working time if from 5.30 - 9.30 am and then come out of the sun until 3.30pm - 5pm. This way you have 2 days to go and explore local places and people or go bush walking. We are flexible too.

ACCOMMODATION ............We will supply private, neat and tidy, semi - self contained accommodation. We have wifi. We also have a neat tidy large shed ideal for someone with own van to be independant such as a couple.

FOOD / MEALS ..... We supply all meals, tea and coffee, a social beer or wine. We ask that you cook your own breakfast (supplied by us) so we can have some family time with some routines happening. We would ask for help around the evening meals - and that we share / take turns with cooking and clean up. Please let me know if you have never cooked before.

SOCIAL .... There are several HelpX travelers who come to our area and stay on friends farms - so great potential to connect up with other travellers.

LOCATION ........... about 10 minutes from the local township of Samford - a Picturesque Mountainous region attracting people who want a lifestyle that allows connections with the Bush, organic home grown food, small farming interests, animals and a sense of community. We are members of the Millen farm community which is an exciting hub of energy, workshops, and creative ideas, all run by Volunteers. http://www.millenfarm.org/ Lots of interesting things happening around our region and only 1 1/3 hrs to the beach.

TRANSPORT .......... We can collect you if you wish after a chat. Our place may suit travellers with their own transport.

While we respect your privacy we do require some sharing of personal info prior to accepting new guests into our home. These include your e-mail, mobile number, a fb friend allowance and a reference. If we confirm a date with you we would offer a maximum of a weeks stay, which can end an any time it is not mutually suitable or job depending. We are a family looking to share our lifestyle with similar liked people. We are not a motel offering a service, so we work well with Independent travelers looking for a shared experience of our Australian life. A longer stay can be negotiated.

Our 2016 Helpers this year have included - Vincent who built our Organic Veggie garden, cut a path through the bush to the Cascades water hole, pulled out lots of lantana and put countless meals on the table to share, house sat and sang songs in the evenings - thanks Vincent; Simon pulled Lantana and cut the lawn, and learnt how to use the whipper snipper and made Us Crepes - thanks Simon; Antoine (unused to working on a farm or outdoors) at all helped us pull lots of weeds from our gardens and cut grass - thanks Antoine; Steffi here on a Uni break was lovely with kids as well she helped to paint our lovely outdoor Iron table and chairs - thanks Steffi; and our last very quiet helper Leoni said yes to having a go at anything and helped to water our new tress just planted and did a top job painting our first Tiny House as well as helped out in the house including cooking - thanks Leoni.

Our farm has developed amazingly this year thanks to our community of helpers. We thank those who have been here so far and looking forward to our next helpers presence here on our Peaceful valley farm, cheers from Col and Jenny
