Hello to volunteers planning or interested in coming to the Farm,

We have been overflown with volunteers. Unfortunately, at the moment, our space capacity has breached it's limit. We have paucity of sleeping space and project space too. Building mud houses is currently in progress. As on date we can hold a maximum of 12 volunteers in our communal house, besides a few extra staying in their tents.

With exponential growth of the farm and onset of spring , we realize that volunteers, who planed to stay only for two weeks end up staying for a month or more. While this is awesome, it is creating difficulty in managing the flow of volunteers.
In view of the above, we now new volunteers to kindly make a commitment of at least 32days, 30 days of Farm work and a day each for arrival & departure. It is equally important that each person, who has already contacted and has been confirmed space from us, fills out the calendar, which can be found in the confirmation email sent to you.

We love to see new smiling faces at the Farm and everyone is more than welcome from mid June onwards. We thank you for your cooperation in helping us make the Farm the lovely place that it is to be.

With love & hugs from all of us at the Himalayan Farm family

Mini Solar Power House

We are still off grid, but we have electricity. We now have a mini solar power house at the Farm from Jan 24, 2013. Computer and internet is now available at the Farm along with plenty of lights and battery charging facility.

PDC Course May 2013
A Permaculture Design Course (PDC) is being held at the Farm during May 2013. Please read about this in our blog, if it interests you.

Construction activity is in full swing to make a toilet and bath. A video made by Roya & Carmel from Canada is shown below. We have 16 volunteers as on 27 November 2012 and waiting to collaborate with fresh volunteers in the service of Mother Earth,

We held a workshop (6th-8th oct) on organic sustainable architecture hold by Manu Gopalan, expert coming from Auroville to help us develop the infrastructure. Base on the outcome of this workshop, a new three holed toilet is under construction. More construction activity is in pipe line. Everyone is very welcome to come and join us, to learn, share, and gets hands dirty! We are looking for volunteer carpenters, plastic pie fitters for laying a water pipe line and experts in solar and micro hydro power project too.

Please read more about it in website and see photos of cob house in face book.
HELP REQUIRED round the year.

We are a start up farm, having started work from 09 October 2011, and are looking preferably for long term volunteers to help us set up an organic community farm and farm center in the lower Himalayan mountains of Uttarakhand. Volunteers interested in alternate energy, Plumbers, Masons, permaculture, ecology, sustainable living, low impact housing and conservation are specially invited. We are also looking for plumbers, who can help us in laying a plastic pipe line in an old disused. water channel, to the farm. This is a priority work and needs to be done by Oct Nov 2012. Volunteer plumbers help is requested.

We are a 5 acre farm in the lower Himalayan mountains of Uttarakhand. The Himalayan Farm Project is on top of a hill, a 50 minute hike away from the road. We are surrounded by a reserve forest and our regular guests our barking deer, spotted deer and the occasional leopard.

We are a vegetarian farm and are looking for people with hands on practical skill in building and farming. We are totally off-grid, so we are looking into solar and wind for our energy.

If you are into living a simple life with nature then the Himalayan Farm Project is what you are seeking.

Duration of stay at the farm must be for a minimum of 16 days (2 days for arrival and departure, 14 days of farm life) Due to the overwhelming interest in the farm and to help us plan we can only take volunteers who are willing to commit to this time frame or longer.

We are also searching for special souls who are willing to come and stay for a long duration between 2 - 6 months. As on date we have three long term volunteers staying six and four months.Particularly a person who has knowledge and skills in carpentry, masonry or plumbing.

Watch our new YouTube video about the project done by a volunteer!
