LOOKING FOR A GARDENER! AND CAFÉ/RESTAURANT HELPER!
We are a family run wildlife park/farm located on the Great Ocean Road. Our mission here is to create a self-sustainable, eco-friendly park and farm.
As a family, we started this project about five years ago and are steadily moving forward.
some of our achievements: rain water is our main water supply, we're slowly building vegetable gardens that will hopefully sustain us one day. we recycle as much as we can, compost bins and manure for good soil, chickens for eggs, alpacas for wool, and as much natural materials as we can. Also, We have reconstructed some areas of the park to suit the animals better. We plan to keep developing our place in this way.
FOR GARDENING HELPER:
- Help needed for 2 weeks, starting asap
We are currently building and planting our vegetable gardens. As it is spring, there is a lot of work to do and we are looking for someone to help us out with some of the work load.
We are looking for someone with experience working outdoors. And if you have worked in a garden before – even better! You must be comfortable working hard, working with your hands, in the earth and mud – sometimes! You must be enthusiastic and focused, and have care for the plants.
There may be other physical work outside of the garden, depending on the state of things.
FOR CAFÉ/ RESTAURANT HELPER:
We are looking for a general helper in our café/restaurant during the coming summer months, with a possible long term stay. its preferable you have some experience in hospitality, and decent English. If you have barista skills – great!
In our café and restaurant we offer visitors coffees and hot drinks, and home baked pizzas. Pizzas are only available at lunch time hours. In the summertime these lunch time hours can get quite busy. So we need someone who’s focused and on the ball, and can handle a fast pace.
When you are not needed in the café, you will be working wherever needs a hand in our park.
Your work will include:
-serving food and drinks
-washing the dishes
-making coffees (only if you have experience)
-other general maintenance jobs
We exchange food and board for 5 days of work a week, 6 hours a day. Your accommodation will be in a private self-sustained old tram-cottage (possibly sharing the dwelling with another volunteer -separate rooms).
----We have a one week trial with any new volunteer, so that we can get to know you, you can get to know us, and feel if we have the right arrangement-----
If you are interested to help us out, please be sure you are motivated to learn and do the work, responsible, respectful of others, comfortable with yourself to work and spend time alone.
If this sounds interesting to you call us on 0352375262 or 0425861757
Hope to hear from you soon!
