We are creating an off grid organic farm community. We are seeking others to join us to work and live in the community. Accommodations are included in exchange for your labor. Those who want to join the community may purchase a share each coming with the use of 2 Acres of land plus the shared accommodations. There will be 40 shares for sale at a reasonable price. Each shareholder will receive use of a 2 Acre parcel and homestead site.

Initially, we plan to build several cordwood structures which are labor intensive but do not require a high skill level. We will put down a cement foundation and build the cordwood structure on top. Roofing will be made from conventional materials.

Heating will be by fire place, wood burning stove and self-cast rocket mass heater. Additional cooking heat will be from wood and propane gas. There is nothing like soaking in a wooden hot tub heated by wood under the stars.

Water will be from natural sources most likely using a ram pump design and then fed from a tank above the structures.

Waste will be managed through a septic system.

We mention all this in case any one has particular skills in this area.

The farm will consist of greenhouses and in ground permaculture. We want to use hydroponics possibly acquaponis to grow most of our food.

Livestock will consist of chickens, turkey, rabbits, goats, pigs and cows. Riding Horses may be kept on the property provided you are able to tend to them. (Please not. The livestock will be raised as food. If you are adverse to participating in animal raising for food ie. butchering please do not join us). On the other hand if you have any experience at all with these sorts of activities we really could use your help.

We are seeking people to help build residences, barns, out buildings, greenhouses, clear land, drill wells, set up windmills and solar power stations, tend the crops and livestock.

This is a long term, on going project designed to meet the communities needs as we grow. We want to work on this project every spring and summer until completed and we want to have a lot of fun doing it. Eventually, the ranch will be occupied year round.

The property is located in Northern Ontario. It is surrounded by wild untouched forest. There is plenty of clean water as well as wild life. Hunting and fishing is allowed as well as foraging for berries and other wild foods. Hunting is also permitted.

The ideal helper / community member should be mature, mentally stable, independently minded, comfortable in the wilderness (the nearest town is 20 kilometers away), love the outdoors and fully equipped for the sometimes unruly weather.

The following are our areas of interest: solar power, wind power generation, food preserving, animal husbandry, wood harvesting, organic farming, waste and water management, permaculture skills, hunting and fishing, bee keeping, acquaponics, building and trades.

Families with or without children and singles are welcome.

We seek hard working, intelligent, fun loving people who can help us build our dream. We do not seek partiers, pot heads, alcoholics, racists and people who are societal misfits. This is not a commune. We are very very tidy and expect the same from you.

We are a four person family consisting of two adult children, male and female and a husband and wife couple. Our language capabilities are English, Russian, Spanish, some Danish and some French. All cultures and languages are welcome.

We will be housed in temporary housing until we get our permanent residences up. What should you bring: good work clothes, good pair of work gloves, good hiking / work boots, warm clothes, rain gear, flashlights, lanterns, personal knife, personal items, sleeping bag, tent, Cooking wear, camping gear, fishing gear, tools, binoculars, first aid kit, soap, etc. Of course if you are lacking any of these items we will arrange them for you.

In addition, we will need, felling axes, hatchets, shovels, wheel barrels, hammers, hand saws, chain saws, generators, tape measures, safety equipment, log handling equipment, cooking utensils, cookware, cast iron ware, bake ware, table ware, cutlery, seeds for planting, canning materials, storage materials, etc. If you have none of this that is ok.

We will provide food consisting of store bought and home made items such as herbs, spices, beans, rice, potatoes, meats, vegetables, foraged berries, fish from the many lakes and streams, Eggs, pancake mix, honey, an assortment of baked goods, vitamin and mineral supplements. Cod liver oil, apple cider vinegar, wine, drinking alcohol, fermentation starter and supplies and any thing else that may be of use.

We would like to know when you are available and for how long. What skills do you have? Do you have any health conditions we should know about? If you join us we would like to know who to contact in case of emergency?

Contact us if you are interested in this exciting and fun opportunity.
