How would you like to volunteer at an English language immersion course, and be an integral part of an exciting language and cultural exchange programme in the heart of historic Athens, Greece? Visit this awe inspiring city and spend 5 days assisting non-native English speakers in improving their conversational skills.

No teaching is involved so we are not specifically looking for qualified teachers, although they are most welcome to take part. We love our teachers! What we want simply are native English speakers only who are willing to chat for up to 10 hours per day about any subjects under the sun, and have the ability to correct mistakes that a non-English speaker might make. The programme will be planned out each day so that it can run efficiently.

A desire to immerse yourself in the culture of another country and a willingness to learn from those involved in the course is highly important, while they are being immersed in our language. We want people who are team players and who can take part in, and enjoy group activities. It is a plus to be able to speak to a group of people without inhibitions, and add some humour and colour. We believe in keeping the course as informal as possible, therefore nobody will be pressured into an activity that may not be comfortable.

You will share your time with other English speaking volunteers as well as our clients who are looking to advance their levels of English through ENGLISH ONLY conversation. The setting is residential in order to maximize our days, from breakfast time until the end of the daily schedule. We aim to remove any outside distractions which would take away the focus of our students, which we want to be 100% on the English language.

Many of our clients are doing the course for work and career purposes, so it is crucial that our volunteers are outgoing, patient, able to correct errors in grammar and tenses, and have a love of enhancing their knowledge of culture and travel. It is essential to respect local customs and traditions, and to be sensitive towards each student's ability.

In return, volunteers will receive accommodation, and three full meals will be provided each day. In order to keeps costs low we will be using a large residence and bedrooms will be shared. Extra expenses may be incurred through snacks and miscellaneous purchases, or through museum tickets and bus or metro passes.

It must be noted however that this is not a chance to learn Greek during the programme, it is ENGLISH ONLY. We expect our Anglophones to insist on the students not using their native language at any time. It is however a chance to make new friends and after the course perhaps spend more time in wonderful Athens or in other parts of Greece.

So if you believe you have what is necessary to contribute to the course, to help people better their English, share your knowledge and travel stories, and want to experience Greek life, then please get in contact.

Our next scheduled starting dates are Monday 21st of May, Monday 4th of June and Monday 18th of June. We hope to continue with two courses each month after that, all through the year.

Additionally we would like a volunteer to cook and help with some domestic tasks. This person does not have to be a native English speaker.
Please email us with any questions you might have.
