This is a family 10.37 hectare vineyard with three winegrape varieties, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, And pinot gris. We supply the grapes to wineries in the Nelson and Marlborough regions.
On this property we have our house and buildings, gardens, chooks, and a friendly dog.
accommodation available from now for sleeping arrangements: the loft sleepout, a large, fully self contained semi house that is often shared with wwoffer guests and helpx guests.
Also a caravan, you still share kitchen, laundry, bathroom and living areas in the loft, caravan mainly just used for private space / contains 3 beds.
The hours of work in exchange for this accommodation is 16 hours per week per person. You must supply and cook your own food, although you can help yourself to our gardens and fruits from the property for free.
I (Kris) work part time for Richmond Plains wines / Te Mania wines, and part time on this property.
Leah my wife has started a business in Tahuna and is very busy also.
We have 2 kids, 6 year old Finn and have a 4 year old Tommy, so we need a helping hand at times around the property.
At the moment we require a helper to mainly help with some simple vineyard tasks like hand picking the grapes, this job is easy and a nice team environment. perhaps some childcare, mowing the lawns and a few other tasks. Full training and support will be provided.
we are looking for keen person or people with good attitudes that enjoy working outdoors, and don't mind doing hard work. most vineyard tasks are new to people but i will give full training and they are quite enjoyable and rewarding to do.
We don't have much time to show people around and share stories when we are busy, but sometimes we like to show tourists our favourite spots or advise people the best local places to see and things to do.
We advise you should have your own internet access, if you require internet access.
However Leah's phone has WiFi and she can set up a hot spot so you could access the Internet when she is at home.
We do have bicycles people can use to get around.
our property is 7.5km from Richmond town, where there is supermarkets, shopping mall, visitor information centre and free WiFi internet.
8km from the beach,
3km from the Waimea River.
10km from the nelson airport.
17km (20 mins drive)to Nelson city.
You need your own transport. unless you want to use our bikes, helmets, with lock to cycle everywhere.
airport or bus depot pickup can be arranged in exchange of work. people with own car are preferred.
note: days of harvest are scheduled events and we appreciate everyone helping out when required. However other tasks; i offer flexibility in working hours and days worked, for example 2 German girls we had recently done all of their hours in 3 days then had a relaxing holiday.
Another example a guy we hosted last summer from USA worked another full time job and still managed his helpx hours and still enjoys a complete day off work. great.
others prefer to spread their hours out daily, this in turn requires trustworthiness, honesty and workers being able to work unsupervised, and honest record keeping of hours worked.
We expect a good work attitude and a good physical effort at work here, we are not looking for people in lazy holiday mode while doing the hours required, (we have had previous experiences that get moved on).
Thanks for reading.
Kris and Leah.
