We are a friendly family of four (my husband, me and 2 small children) who live in a beautiful 16th century cottage in the South Downs National Park. We are just 7 miles north of the cosmopolitan seaside city of Brighton but are surrounded by idyllic woodland and hills full of deer, badgers and owls.

We moved to this old house a year ago and have lots of decorating and gardening work to do... work such as chopping wood, clearing weeds, stripping wallpaper, sanding floorboards ... Our large garden has the potential to be beautiful - we'd like to grow lots of vegetables, have a small forest garden and develop the pond area to attract more pond life. We hope to get chickens and ducks in April so can help with them.

We were hoping to do all this work ourselves but find it hard to find the time with 2 children. We also love the idea of having foreign visitors. We did lots of backpacking when we were younger and loved meeting people from all over the world. So it would be a pleasure for us having you here.

We are very well-connected with transport. We are a short cycle or 20 minute walk through fields to Hassocks station from which London is just 1 hour away on the train. Gatwick is 15 minutes. Brighton 10 minutes. We have bikes that you are welcome to use. There is a bus stop for buses into Brighton half a mile down our lane. We are walking distance from a pub and a lively village. You will have the best bedroom in the house overlooking the hill - the only thing is you'll need to help decorate it!
