LOOKING FOR A HELPER FROM 1 SEPTEMBER 2015.

MUST BE PREPARED TO STAY FOR AT LEAST ONE MONTH.

DUTIES: HOUSE CLEANING, IRONING and DOG WALKING/DOG SITTING. OCCASIONAL SMALL AMOUNT OF GARDENING.

I live in a row house in Brussels, built in 1932, but fundamentally renovated into an Eco-friendly dwelling in 2009. It has 5 floors, with 4 bedrooms, a guest room/ office, and self-contained studio dwelling on top. There is a small walled garden at the back.

I have a very demanding full-time job as a lawyer, and also a very energetic and lovable dog.

In addition to my job, I attempt to run a non-profit organisation that lobbies on behalf of and supports Australian expats.

I am offering free accommodation in a central location in Brussels (guest room in basement with adjoining toilet/washbasin) in return for dog-walking and dog-minding duties plus about 9 hours of cleaning/ironing per week.

The person must commit to taking the dog out in the mornings first thing for a half-hour walk, and for at least an hour in the middle of the day on weekdays and be prepared to jump in in the evenings to feed and walk the dog if I have to work late. If I go away for work or a weekend, there would be full- time dog minding duties for those periods.

The garden is not very big, but needs to be kept tidy, bird feeders filled up, lawn mowed, patio swept and scrubbed, barbeque cleaned. There will also be occasional other household jobs, such as window cleaning, washing sheets and towels and then hanging washing up to dry when the machine finishes, buying groceries, etc.

The house has wi-fi throughout, and all other mod cons. Two bus lines run past the door and there is a tram at the end of the street, so you don't need a car to explore Brussels and beyond.

I would prefer someone who has previous experience with dogs and is a dog lover, and preferably someone with cleaning experience. They should be relatively fit and prepared to go out with the dog in all weathers. The person should be clean and tidy, clean up after themselves when they use the kitchen, etc, and generally have respect for others living in the house, who are all professional mature full-time working adults.

You would be required to buy and pay for your own food, and public transport ticket. Shared use of the kitchen.

I speak English, German, and some French and Dutch. My housemates speak English, German and French.

If you think this might be something for you, please send an email telling me about yourself and your circumstances and availability in the first instance. Please do not call until you have made initial contact by email.
Anne
