Hi,

We have 2 houses in a lovely little hamlet, a beautiful place which is extremely rural. It's 5 km from the nearest village so you have to love nature and peace and quiet to want to come and stay here. You can cycle to village, or you need a car, or we could possibly lend you a car if you can drive. We have deer in the garden most days and non-stop bird-song. This area of France is heavily forested and the beaches are beautiful and deserted for most of the year.

We are looking for house-sitting and help as soon as possible, through the month of April. We would like someone who wants to spend at least 2 or 3 weeks and longer if you enjoy it. A week is not really long enough to get to know the place.

We are happy to welcome a single helper, a couple of friends or a couple travelling together. You need to very much enjoy your own company as it is very rural and there are not a lot of people around. Other houses in the hamlet are holiday-homes and most of the time there are no neighbours.

We might ask you to help with odd -jobs around the house but most of the work would be garden maintenance. My mother lives in one of the houses and wishes to go away for a few weeks as soon as possible so needs a house-sitter. I come and go to and from the other house. Some of the time I will be around and at other times you will be alone looking after the animals and house. If you are alone you will be given money to buy food in the village so you can cook for yourself. You can cycle to the village if you cannot drive.

The house sitting would involve feeding 5 cats and 1 dog and keeping an eye on our 2 donkeys and 1 sheep. We also have a cockerel called Macho and 1 hen who need letting in and out of their hut every day.

Outside there is always stuff to do here as we have 4 hectares of land. Nothing fancy or technical, just routine maintenance and tidying.

Our hamlet is called Paguetout and you can see it on Googlemaps. The nearest village is Sabres. It is in SW France, an hour south of Bordeaux and 40 minutes in from the coast. The nearest train stations are Labouheyre or Morcenx and I can collect you from there.

We are easy-going and friendly and like to encourage people to help by doing what they enjoy most. We ask for 4 or 5 hours a day of help, 5 days a week, and a bit of help on the weekends. You can have lie-ins on the weekend but we do ask people to get up during the week!

It's a beautiful place and we love sharing it with people who love nature and being outdoors.

Thank you for reading and I hope to hear from you soon.

Tim
