Dear Helper,
Please allow me to introduce my home to you:
Ishq (pronounced Ish-keh) is my country retreat and I use it to escape the bustle and busy social scene of Panama City.
The property is located West of the Gatun Locks of the Panama Canal, and just on the outskirts of the sleepy fishing village of Pina, in the province of Colon, Panama.
With its dramatic views of the Caribbean Sea, Ishq is a luxurious Caribbean villa with its own private beach, and coral reef perfect for snorkeling. This beachfront property is located on four (4) hectares / nine (9) acres surrounded by lush tropical gardens and directly facing the Caribbean Sea whose waters stay warm all year round.
Nearby attractions include the Panama Canal (Gatun Locks) -- you will be able to see the canal being expanded until 2014 --, Gatun Dam, Gatun Lake, the ruins of Fort San Lorenzo, Shelter Bay Marina, San Lorenzo National Park, and Achiote Road (top birdwatching spot).
From any of the terraces at Ishq, one can sit for days, transfixed by their unparalleled views of the Caribbean Sea.
Absolute privacy and peace is what you will find in this secluded piece of paradise, since only the intrepid come to visit.
The house is comprised of four (4) bedrooms, two (2) bathrooms, two (2) terraces, kitchen/bar, and a spacious living room.
Both bathrooms are nicely illuminated by skylights. During the day you can enjoy natural sunlight, and at night you are blessed with a dark sky, a blanket of stars, and/or a cool jeweled moon.
Hammocks, books and magazines in multiple languages, a collection of music, and films from around the world, and an assortment of classic board games are available for helpers.
We have our own private well for our water needs. Our water is incredibly clean and healthy and you can drink straight from the tap.
We have designed a large and lush tropical garden just East of the house with a designated trail. Generous shade is provided by our tropical trees. It's an ideal place to just sit with Nature.
West of the house lies a groomed flat area resembling a golf fairway. You could work on your drive, play football, Frisbee, etc...
We have an outdoor gym, horses, and a fire pit. You are invited to a beach bonfire every night and we can plan on going riding together.
I do expect you to procure your own food. The kitchen is all yours and you will get a beautiful room.
As your host, I would like to ask for four (4) hours of minimum help per day in some of the following:
* Garden work
* Housekeeping
* DIY Do it Yourself type jobs
* Art
* Cooking
As a volunteer and my guest you will enjoy everything that Ishq has to offer, and you can learn many skills from the rest of the volunteers and myself.
Please allow me to be your host in Panama, I think this could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
