I am restoring as sympathetically as possible an old perigourdine farmhouse, a cottage and a barn all in the region of 400 years old. The property is in a beautiful setting overlooking a large lake and in the middle of a forest in the Dordogne region of France. St Michel is located between the medieval towns of Riberac and Mussidan. The area is renowned for its local produce and wines. There is an abundance of wildlife and flora as the area is virtually unspoiled by commercial farming or pollution as a result the air quality is second only to the Swiss Alps and is highly oxygenated.
Ideally I am looking for people with building trade experiece such as bricklayers, roofers, plumbers etc. The farm sits in about 30 acres of land with another 34 acres not attached. The land consists of mixed woodland and there is a beautiful meadow to the rear of the barn which leads to the lake. The whole property has been virtually untouched for a very long time so the conditions are somewhat basic. Shortly though the new sewage system will be installed which will mean a toilet at last and a few modcons.
We have survived here with two young children for over a year and through one of the coldest winters ever recorded, minus 20 last february.
We are a very hospitable family and will do our best to make your stay with us a happy one.
