Update 22/8/16
The new honey plant is installed and ready to go. All we need now is some honey to extract!
The horrid conditions of last summer were followed by an unusually cold and wet winter so our bees have had to contend with a torrid time for the last 10 months, and are understandably not in top condition. Much TLC needed now to get them back into producing surplus honey for us!
Looks like queen rearing will be the order of the day for the next 2 months at least.

As always willing helpers with all round experience, a sense of humour, and lots of patience are very welcome, especially those with some experience working with bees.

-------------------------------------------------
We are commercial beekeepers, producing honey, honeycomb and pollen for local markets and also to supply our own retail outlet. In addition we are currently transitioning to supply our products directly into selected export markets. We have up to 300 hives and 500 nucleus hives on the property at any time, and normally many more at other locations, although not at present.
However we do not have time to cultivate any crops, or raise and manage any other livestock, so no horses, or other cuddly animals, sorry. Also no weeding! (Hooray), but you will learn lots about beekeeping!

Our property is natural bushland and is surrounded by the Moore River National Park, so if snakes and spiders scare you to death, stay away! It is approximately 150km (2 hours drive) north of Perth, and 30km from the coast. It is not serviced by public transport, so it helps to have your own vehicle particularly if you need to go sightseeing or surfing! However we can transport you from Midland railway station in Perth if mutually convenient.
We provide good food, and clean and comfortable accommodation although vegans/vegetarians will need to prepare their own meals using the food we supply. We are very flexible with work hours. Depending on time of year and seasonal conditions the work will vary considerably, so contact us for details. You will be exposed to risk of bee stings so do not come if you are allergic! Both males and females and couples are welcome, but it is not suitable for children or pets. We have 1 queen size and 1 single bedroom available, and also some caravan accommodation for singles. Your TELSTRA and OPTUS mobile phone and internet access will work here, but not the other companies' services.
We are currently rebuilding the hive populations after a series of challenging seasonal and health circumstances so your input is most welcome! You can see a bit of what we do via the video below, and also in this youtube link (if you can make it work)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QFja5fMUhK.

Unfortunately the Australian Government no longer allows volunteer workers to claim rural volunteer work as part of their eligibility for a 2nd year extension to the Working Holiday Visa, so we can no longer sign those claim forms.
