Jerakala is a family run beef cattle property, abattoir and butcher shop in the naturally beautiful North Burnett Region. We are currently looking for someone who is willing to work on a voluntary basis in return for comfortable, clean accommodation, meals, internet access and other living costs.

You will be part of a team, and you will have to perform various jobs through the properties. From working in the yards with cattle, to cleaning a shed, cutting trees or building fences…
You must love animals, especially dogs as we need you to feed and walk them. We also have some chickens, 3 ducks, pigs and horses, you will have to feed them twice a day, collect the eggs… water the garden.
We do not have high expectations but we need you to be reliable, willing to work hard and able to work unsupervised.
We have had over 90 volunteers working on our farm some told us it was the best experience of their life, others maybe the worst, it all depends on what experience you are after.
You will get to do some really amazing stuff, (4wheel driving, bush camping, motorcycle, horse riding, fishing…) but sometimes there are long days and the job is not much fun, but well worth the experience.

Life in the outback is hard, dusty and dirty. Snakes, spiders, and various weird animals will be a part of your everyday life.
We really want people who are looking to experience the outback Australian life.

We are approximately 300km from the Sunshine Coast to Mundubbera and 200km from Bundaberg. To arrange travel to the farm you will have to connect with one of the North Burnett bus services. You will find the schedule here https://www.northburnett.qld.gov.au/bus-service/

Feel free to visit our website or our facebook page and chat with any of our past volunteers.
