Dear helpxers,

Hello from Assisi! We are running mini-weekends for Italian children this fall with our Humanities Spring method -- so lots of activities which challenge the children, help them to do art, theater, cook, and generally use their imaginations and have fun in the process -- all in English. The programs help students to live the language and make it theirs experentially.

So -- we are looking for people who love to cook, do art projects, and do theaters. We need:

one person (or two) short term for our Halloween weekend, arriving about October 21st or so and staying through the third or 4th of November

and then one or two people to help with the Thanksgiving and Christmas weekends from November 19th or so through to December 4th (or so). We can be a little flexible about dates.

We really need native English speakers or people whose English is excellent because that is what we are trying to give our little students.

We are out in the country in the middle of a beautiful national park, so a lot of the activities are nature-based and it is good if you are happy spending time in nature yourself.

We really look forward to hearing from you.Hope to welcome you into our little Humanities Spring community!
Best from Assisi,
Jenny

Dear helpxers,

We have continued to have wonderful experiences with helpx; thank you all so much!!! Now, we are looking for

1 or 2 friends (especially if you are interested in art, cooking, or theater) who like living in the country spending time with kids to help out with our full-immersion English program, HS Kids: Actors, Sculptors, and Cooks program for Italian children ages 7 to 15. The children act, do art projects (doesn’t have to be sculpture; some years they paint or do collage) and bake cakes and cookies — all as a way to learn English by living the language. We are like a little community and children and teachers have a lot of fun together going for walks, picking flowers, swimming in the spring (with a beautiful waterfall!) nearby so the program has both art and nature as its focus. You would do 6-8 hours five days a week, and then be free Saturdays and Sundays, which would give you time to explore the local area with its many beautiful cities (starting with Assisi of course!).

HS Kids goes all summer long, from June 15th to September 15th. We are looking for people who can do either of these two periods, or both, (but we can be flexible):

June 1th - July 22nd
July 22nd - September 2nd

We will try to work with your dates, particularly if this really seems like the right experience for you! ... So if you have different dates, send them along and let's see what we can do! And, oh yes... your English really has to be very good!

2) an art teacher who could teach a collage course or a landscape painting course (watercolors, usually) for high school and college students (This is a different program). You would travel with us all over Italy and get to see a lot of beautiful art! —both in our area, Umbria, and in Florence, Ravenna, and Tarquinia, too.
People with art history backgrounds are also very welcome!
Dates: June 22nd to July 24th this year …again, we can be a little flexible with these.

Thanks! We look forward to hearing from you. And of course if you have questions about any of this, please do send them along.

All best,
Jenny

PS Davide is very busy with his thesis (in philosophy) so I am writing here instead.
