ALL POSITIONS NOW FILLED FOR 2017
WE WILL BE LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS AGAIN EARLY 2018!
We have two separate accommodations, One is only suitable for couples (1 double bed) and the other could accommodate a couple or two individuals (1 Double & 1 Single bed). Minimum stay is 3 weeks.

We are a small family run backpackers hostel in the centre of Stornoway, heart of the Hebrides.
The 26 bed Hostel is owned and run by Christine, who along with her partner Vojta, 4 year old boy Tobias and 1 year old girl Eliska, live on the premises.
Volunteers are expected to work 6 shifts of 2.5 hours per week and have 1 day off. Couples can have a day off together. All volunteers will start with cleaning shifts and progress to having some reception/admin shifts. Some cleaning experience is preferable.
CLEANING DUTIES would mostly include the cleaning and maintenance of the hostel to our 4 star standard (bed changing, cleaning bathrooms, hoovering, changing lightbulbs etc). Shifts start at 11.00 and usually finish before 13.30.
RECEPTION DUTIES would include answering the door and welcoming guests. Check-in, shop, phone and emails and being available to answer guests questions. It may also include the occasional shopping, paperwork and extra cleaning.
Admin shifts would be afternoon (1-3.30pm & 3.30-6pm) and evening (5-7.30pm and 7.30-10pm) . Couples would need to work their hours consecutively 2.5 hours, followed by 2.5 hours or a 5 hour shift together.
In return we would provide free accommodation in either our private double room in the Hostel or our Shepherds Hut in the garden, access to free basic breakfast supplies, free wi-fi and Laundry.
We do not provide lunch or dinner but workers can prepare their own meals in the kitchen either before or after the dinner time rush.
The Bathrooms are all shared.
Hand built Shepherds Hut in the garden which has a double bed and a small seating area in it. Bathroom is separate and shared.
Dorm is on the top floor of the hostel and has a double bed and sitting area in it. If a pair of friends joined us, we could also fit a single bed in it.
