Are you a handyman who can use simple tools or clean gutters? Do you have handyman skills? Can you help with some simple construction work? I am doing repairs to my house. If you take this opportunity you need to have work cloth. Very few back packers come prepared for either handyman work or cold weather.
The ideal male would be a sightseer(s) visiting Perth for a few weeks to maybe a month who has handyman skills, can speak english well and work reasonably independently. I do not micro manage people. I encourage people to think for themselves and to come up with ideas.
THE HOST AND WHAT HE NEEDS
Retired, active, independent male looking for a POLITE (good manners eg thank you, please excuse me etc), thoughtful, reliable, mature, independent, handyman (non smoker, tidy and clean and puts dishes away immediately after meals, like hostel). Age and nationality not important but must be able to speak good english and not be a mañana person.
WHAT THE HOST IS OFFERING
Will exchange 7 days free accommodation (no meals) for two days (approx. 6hr/d) light work. The time staying here can be extended by mutual agreement. Some backpackers have stayed here for more than 6 months. The house is equipped with fast unlimited internet and bicycles are provide for sight seeing.
If you have other skill, let me know and I may have other work for you.
If you are coming from overseas and have useful skills, I will collect you at the airport.
Don't say you have a skill if you do not, please. I am fed up teaching uninterested backpackers skills.
If a backpacker is honest and good I am prepared to show him around Perth, bringing him hiking on the Bibbilmun Track or go camping. I have cycled 2/3 of the world on bike.
MY REFERENCE RATING
Apart for one bad experience lately, my references are rated at 5 stars.
WHAT THE HOST IS NOT OFFERING
I am not offering:
1 couch surfing
2 free accommodation for students full time employed backpackers in exchange for work;
3 a postal address where backpackers can get their Tax File Number, mobile account set up, registration a vehicle or anything else which involves post being sent to my address; and
4 accomodation to people who normally live in Perth or its surrounds.
5 accomodation for cool dudes and mobile junkies.
PRIME LOCATION FOR VISITING PERTH
Location and view of the house can be viewed on Google maps. It is an ideal location (prime location) for visiting Perth. It is a very safe area. It is 3km from the University of Western Australia, 2km from the Swan River, 4km from Cottesloe beach and is on a bus route to Perth (7km) and Fremantle (13km). It is halfway between Perth and Fremantle.
SPANISH ENGLISH EXCHANGE
If you can speak Spanish and want to learn English, that would be a plus.
