Hello....welcome to 'The Castle'

If your looking for a quiet outback visit away from the hustle and bussle of the city this is the place for you.
A few years ago we came across and fell in love with a unique dwelling in the middle of nowhere. 'The Castle ' was originally built to be a bed and breakfast. Built from solid concrete by hand by one man over 28 years.
Now it is simply a place we call home were, with some help we are slowly but surely bringing it back to life.

We are looking for helpers (COUPLES or 2+ FRIENDS ONLY PLEASE) for mainly helping out around the outside of the Castle right now. If you can cook that would be great too but not essential.

We offer food and room in exchange for 4 hours work a day x 5 or just room for 2hrs a day x 6 (There is a separate self contained kitchen you can use if you prefer)

You will have your own unit with shower and toilet.

The Castle runs on Solar or Generator Power and Rain Water so we are totally off the grid.

We have 2 1/2 dogs, 2 pet geese and wild Rainbow Lorikeets come for breakfast every morning. You'll see plenty of kangaroos, emus and maybe the odd camel.

The Gemfields of Central Queensland, is a community made up of 4 small townships in an area where locals and tourists still fossick for gems. (Some of our Helpx's have found some lovely gems to take home).

Coming to the Gemmies (as the locals call it) is like stepping back in time. So if you'd like to experience some 'real' Australian Outback we'd love to have you come visit.

Place read our references for more info about what it's like to stay at "The Castle" and feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

Hope to see you soon :D
