Join us for a truly Irish Rural Horticulture Experience, get your hands dirty and enjoy the Irish countryside.
We are Donie O'Brien and Emer O'Flaherty. We grow organic salad for restaurants and hotels. We live 3km from the village of Ballyagran and 10km from the town of Charleville.
You can see us in this video for Limerick's Strand Hotel 'Food Story' with Chef Tom Flavin who loves our salad.
You can eat lots of this salad and fresh vegetables every day when you work with us.
We also grow lots of herbs, fruit & vegetables and we keep hens & bees. We follow Organic principles.
We have been hosting volunteers for many years.
We try to live sustainably.
We supply good food and a comfortable room in the house.
Tasks might include seed sowing, transplanting, watering, harvesting, feeding hens, bee-keeping, chopping wood, walking the dogs, never the one task for too long. You can learn a lot here if you are interested in growing food.
Our village, Ballyagran, has a friendly shop, Post Office and pub with great Guinness and free wifi. The town of Charleville has banks, library, shops, train and bus stations, we have bikes for your use.
This winter we built a timber cabin for volunteer accommodation. It has a wood stove and complete kitchen.
We can accommodate vegetarians but not vegans.
The house has 2 sitting rooms, one with piano, dvd player, books etc.
When you e-mail please send possible dates of arrival (Sunday) and departure (Saturday). You can also phone us to ask questions.
