We are looking for some help at our organic orchard. Jobs at the moment include help with firewood, veg patch, renovating a classic caravan, building with cob, food preserving, and getting ready for the apple harvest. Depending on what jobs are on the agenda, we ask for 4 hours a days help and you will be rewarded with a comfy caravan and plenty of homemade organic food.
A few nights a week we will stay away and sometimes at the weekends also. You will need to be ok to hang out on you're own but as long as you keep the polytunnel watered and the weeds under control, you will have full use of the land and food cupboard! There are bicycles available.
We have a 2.5 acre organic apple orchard in Suffolk which backs onto a 100 acre wood. Over the years we have added other fruit trees, nuts and many other species of tree! It is a great area for walking in protected woodland and on the outskirts of a small village with farmshop, pub and bus route between Sudbury and Colchester.
In the warmer months there is a small caravan available as accommodation or bring your own tent or camper/caravan.
You are welcome to join us in the evenings and weekends to the pub, music nights and trips to town.
We can pick you up from Sudbury or Colchester. Bring waterproofs and work boots.
We live a peaceful, rustic, basic life, enjoy practising yoga and are vegetarian. Bring musical instruments for jamming purposes....we do not have a house but you can use our internet in the evenings. We are off grid and use a compost toilet, charge phones and lights by solar and have a solar shower/hot water and a bucket! It is very basic but that's how we like it...living simply with the wildlife and countryside.
