NOTE: We are seeking one person to help while our volunteers focus on 'opening' Shangri-La for our visitor season. The time period would last from around Nov 10th until the 30th. Primary responsibilities include caring for three vegan dogs (mostly walking them on the leash, some feeding) and preparing vegan dinners for 5-7 people. Cleaning and gardening/yard work would be helpful also. Please contact us if you are self-motivated, a dog-lover, and excited to be with vegans in a beautiful place!

This is a vegan educational center on 454 acres, surrounded by native forest reserve. There are large vegetable gardens, many fruit trees, and pristine rivers to swim in and drink from. The land is under the stewardship of Gentle World, an intentional community and educational organization. Founded on ethical principles, with veganism at its core, this place is a unique learning opportunity as well as a rewarding work experience. Helpers are welcome from mid-Oct through mid-May.

Community tasks are varied, and we ask helpers to become a part of our team while they are here, which means helping out with whatever might be going on during the day, whether that be gardening, painting, cleaning, kitchen work, or anything else that needs doing.

Accommodations are clean, tidy caravans, with access to the communal house, including kitchen and hot shower, and a clean composting toilet.

There is lots of land to explore, including walks in the bush/forest, as well as beaches and other attractions in the surrounding area for those who have their own transportation.

We welcome all guests for a limited time at first, as we have many requests and it is important to us to be sure that everyone gets a chance to visit. For those who wish to stay longer, we are happy to discuss that possibility after arrival, when we will have a better idea of whether we have the space and work available.
