My home is on a quiet street in the tiny town of Victoria Harbour, (which is part of Tay Township) Ontario. It is a short walk to the water (0.6 km to Georgian Bay), and the grocery store, post office, library, pharmacy and a restaurant are about the same distance... But it is a short drive to an endless variety of things to do.
I am offering a room in my house for a home stay. My guest room is also my arts and crafts supply room and has a double bed, so I can accommodate a single person or couple that likes to be cozy - the bathroom is shared. I do not have a required stay length. You are welcome to use everything in the house but you will be responsible for your own food and meals. In exchange for accommodation, I am hoping for about 1.5 hours of your time at day, (walking the dog and feed/water chickens light housework such as vacuuming, and some snow shoveling).
I love to spend my time out in the vegetable garden (or shed in the winter) or puttering around the hen house (9 chickens). If you have allergies, this is not the best place for you, I have an indoor cat, a large dog (that is mostly inside), and I am not good at dusting.

The Tay Trail is just outside the door... In the SUMMER ... it is a paved walking/biking trail that will take you through Port McNicholl and into Midland or in the other direction it goes through some interesting wetlands such as Matchedash Bay. You are welcome to borrow a bicycle. Most tourist attractions are only open during the summer months, June, July and August, (some open in May and close in October but you need to check with each individually). In Port McNichol, the newest attraction is the Keewatin, a passenger ship from 1907 that is docked in the harbour. In the direction of Midland you will pass the Martrys Shrine, Saint Marie among the Hurons and the Wye Marsh (the Wye is open all year and has a trumpeter swan breeding program - which often can be heard flying over my house.) There is a small museum, cultural centre and a boat cruise that leaves from the Midland harbour. Penetanguishene is the next town past Midland and is about hour drive from the house, Discovery Harbour ( historic site and tall ships) and Kings Wharf Theatre are the major attractions. It is about a 45 minute drive in opposite directions to either Barrie (city for shopping and more attractions), or Wasaga Beach (longest freshwater beach). And Orillia (small city) is about 35 minute drive. If you tell me what you are interested in, I can direct you to more specific attractions or google Simcoe County.

I look forward to hearing from you. Happy adventures, Lila
