We are a couple living in a farm in the south of Iceland. She is studying in Reykjavík and is only at the farm during weekends. We have a cat, 2 dogs, about 130 sheep and 70 horses. We are training horses mostly all year around and there is always more than enough to do around the farm. :) For now we are we are looking for someone to help us during the lambing period. It starts around 25th of April and is finished around 25th of May. So if you would be able to come stay with us during that period it would be great because there is a lot to do on the farm during that time and help around the house is also well appreciated.

We are looking for volunteers to help out with the everyday farm work, doing some outdoor cleaning and rinsing on the farm and some help in the house as well. The volunteers would be welcome to go horse riding if interested and to help out working with the horses. From the end of April and until the beginning of June we need help with the lambing, to watch over and take care of the sheep during the lambing period. Notice that we are only looking to host 1 helper at a time.

The helper will get a private room in the house and then shared living room, kitchen and bathroom. The volunteers would get food (free) but would mostly prepare their own meals and take care of them selves. Of course we would also cook and let you taste different kind of Icelandic food. :) We are only looking for hosting one helper at a time.

There is a lot to see and do in the south of Iceland. You can check out this website for information about the area:
The farm is located 25km from Hvolsvöllur and there is about 10 minutes drive to Landeyjahöfn where you can take the ferry to Vestmannaeyjar. There are waterfalls, glaciers and volcano´s all around and during summer time there is a bus going from Hvolsvöllur to the beautiful places Þórsmörk and Landmannalaugar. You can also take a bus from Hvolsvöllur to Reykjavík. And of course you can go horseback riding on the farm if you are interested.
