Kia ora
I'm a woman (late 40's) living in Waikino- a rural village just off SH2 in the Karangahake Gorge, between Waihi and Paeroa.

I have a small section 1000sqm and I grow fruit, veges, herbs, have 4 chooks,a dog, cat and a beehive which is tended by a local beekeeper. I would love for you to come and experience a little of kiwi life..

Im keen to meet people from different countries and keeps life interesting! I offer healthy homecooked food and welcome both meat eaters, and vegetarians. You will have your own clean comfortable room with a double bed in my small home.
I'm in the middle of building a tiny studio project made of wood & cob / bamboo/ earth so this is the focus til finished. The interior is 99% finished. just some sanding and oiling of windows and frames and also the exterior walls need finishing= applying a cob mix. It can be dirty work mixing clay and sand etc with your feet but is fun with some good sounds to groove to. And a beach or river swim after. Also If you have sculpture, gardening, building or plumbing skills please get in touch! Also needing a new chimney made for the outdoor fireplace, a wire netting fence to put up and property maintenance - There's always something to do. Always weeding to be done and animals to look after. I will find jobs that suit your skills and you will also learn some new ones. You must be honest, hardworking and able to work independently at times. I am happy to negotiate hours so you also have plenty of time to see and enjoy our local sights. Can't be all work and no play !

I follow permaculture and organic gardening practices but am not organic certified.

There's lots to do around here - Hauraki rail trail if you are into cycling , Karangahake Gorge for mountain walks for hiking, rivers, pub and café 10 mins walk away, beach and hot pools 20 mins drive away.

You will preferably have your own transport as there is no public transport around here. However I could pick you up from Waihi or Paeroa if needed. And there is access to the cycle trail into neighbouring towns. I would prefer if you could arrive on a Friday evening so we can have time to work together on projects starting Saturday.

See you soon
