No availability until 24th August. We do require help from 24th-4th September - 4 strong enthusiastic friends would be perfect. Preparing the grove for late September harvesting. thank you.

Hi!
We grow olives by the organic method in our olive grove on the outskirts of a village called Alora near Malaga. We have 10 acres of land and approximately 500 trees. When we purchased the grove in May 2013, it had been abandoned for over 4 years - some of the trees are over 200 years old. We are therefore working to restore the grove.

We are looking for volunteers (couples or friends please) who would like to experience and learn how to restore and maintain an organic farm. Subject to the time of year that you volunteer, the help we would require would range from removing shoots, weeding, picking olives, chopping firewood, stone wall building, painting and building an irrigation system. If you have IT knowledge that would be a bonus! We will ask that you do some house cleaning the day or day before you leave. Hours required 5 hours per day for 5 days a week. We don't require any experience, just lots of enthusiasm, smiles and some muscle!

We'd ask that volunteers are over 20 years old - and you came as couples or friends so as you have someone to go out with in your spare time. In exchange for your daily 5 hours of enthusiasm, smiles and muscle, we will provide lovely accommodation (rooms are shared) plus breakfast and lunch. Bread and tapas will be available for dinner. We can accommodate meat eaters and vegetarians who eat dairy food and gluten. (I'm sorry but we cannot accommodate vegans or people with special dietary requirements). There is an honesty bar available for canned drinks and beer. We ask that volunteers stay only one week (possibly 10 days - 2 weeks - subject to the time of year and our requirements).

Please also be aware that you will need to bring sturdy footwear and old clothes for working in. However, we do have a washing machine.

We have a beautiful pool area and an outdoor kitchen plus good wi-fi. We are close to the beautiful lakes at El Chorro where you can hike and climb and the recently opened Caminito Del Rey where you can hike and climb. There are also plenty of lovely walks in the nearby area. We are only about a 15 minute walk from the pretty white village of Alora where there are plenty of traditional Spanish bars and restaurants. The local railway station in Alora has a direct train to Ronda and to Malaga, and also provides an easy journey to and from Malaga airport during the day.

We are English speaking with little Spanish - but trying to learn more! We'd like it that you could speak enough English to communicate with us and have a friendly chat over meals.

Thank you for reading our profile and we look forward to hearing from you! If you do get in contact and we offer you dates, even if you can't make them, or you change your mind, please can you let us know! Thank you!
