This time we also need help with rebuilding & renovating of an old heritage building! This means we seek "strong" people with interest in historical buildings & construction work.
This special project is in the historic town of Annaberg Buchholz - short- and longterm opportunities available!
help is needed with the following:
the inside needs to be cleaned up, built a wooden floor, cover the walls inside and outside with traditional plastering, simple electricity, simple sanitary installations, renovate doors + windows, repair and cover the roof with traditional stonecovers and with tin, built a bar with oakplanks ... ---
Please make sure you read the profile before you apply.
And please do all hosts a favour: write to ONE place first, wait for their reply and then, if needed, ask another place. Otherwise you waste the time of many host. Thank you!
This is a opportunity for people who want to spent some time in the beautiful nature in the middle of Saxony (middle-east-Germany).
This is a project with varied activities and for people who want to be self dependent. After welcome and introduction in the place and the work you will have contact with your host only once a week or so. Thus we prefer to have a long term helper, who after some time knows the work well and can introduce short term helpers.
Minimum age for helpers is 18. And you should have at least a little experience in doing practical work (e.g. how to hold a brush :)
--> 1 or 2 long time helper/s (2 month or longer / all year round)
--> occasional helpers (1 week or longer)
Near the old heritage village of Koessern nearby Colditz-Castle (Leipzig 40km, Dresden 70km, Berlin 180km, railwaystation 5km), right in a forest with a lot of birds, next to a lake and a small river with fishes a beaver a property of about 1200 square meters waits to be maintained (gardening, making firewood, create a vegetable garden).
Near the actual garden, where you will live and work are other places where you will help to start the eco farm: this is a long term project, we will start with cultivating the land etc.
Sometimes we organise some activities there, like canoetours, renting out tents or small houses - you will help with this also if needed.
You can take the bike to reach these places.
Helping here means being in your "own place" much of the time, but we also offer the opportunity to travel to other places nearby and help there for some days too. This means you have to be flexible concerning work and time.
We provide you with basic food, the preparation is up to you.
If you stay for a longer time, you can take care for the online promotion and communication concerning holiday home and guests.
You will live in your own little house, which is a typical GDR-style bungalow, nowadays rather unique!
Small kitchen, WC, solar shower (outdoor!), sleeping room (for long time helper or couple), common room that can be used as a bedroom for short time helpers.
Patio under roof with nice sunsets!
A scandinavian wood fired outdoor hot tub can be used sometimes and also a simple sauna!
If you want, you can also pitch your tent in the garden.
possible tasks are
-cultivate and preserve the garden, set up and maintain a vegetable garden
-house: redecorate, fix, paint, repair, renovate - the host will guide you
-take care for a small holidayhome and a holiday tent in the neighbourhood (welcome and farewell of the guests, repairings if needed, check the tent - you can have some holiday there too)
-help to start a eco farm near by
-help out in other building projects (get to know a bit of Saxony and meet other people)
Possibilities for your spare time
Visit the surrounding nature, take a canoe for paddling, go fishing, hiking, biking. Visit old castles and museums.
Citytrips to Leipzig, Chemnitz, Dresden, Berlin/Potsdam can be started from the near train station (10 min via bike). In Leipzig and Chemnitz are possibilities to stay for free for some nights at other projects of the host.
