Situated in the rolling hills of rural PEI, Canada, we have 20 acres of field that we would love to develop a permaculture project on. We are located in a small community with some great artsy, friendly people around us. Our neighbors play music, garden, do sand and ice sculpting, give fiddle lessons, plant trees, and so on! Down the road from us is a horse sanctuary, a mushroom farm, a humble (yet refreshing) creek, a heritage red clay road, a beautiful sandy PEI beach, and much more! A fifteen minute drive from us is the town of Montague, and a 35 minute drive from us is the capital, Charlottetown.

I have recently graduated from the Univesity of Prince Edward Island and I have been looking at going away to take a permaculture design certification course or do some wwoofing to learn design principles and get some practical experience. Unfortunately, I am lacking the desire to leave the beautiful, sunny country side as soon as the beautiful PEI summer is upon me! Yet, I would still love to learn about permaculture and my family and I would love to implement some kind of permaculture project on our land.

My father is a wood craftsman who has 30 years + of experience building literally everything from houses to rustic furniture to chicken coops to boat houses to goat barns and much more (you get the idea). He has an unbelievable knack for the trade and does really beautiful work. He is opening a gallery/studio on our land this summer and will be doing tons of wood working in his shop designing and building new pieces. If you are a permaculture farmer who is looking to learn more about woodworking in exchange for some permaculture design ideas for our land, please contact us! We would offer room and board to you (my mom is a seriously great cook). We have a really nice art studio/cabin on our land equipped with a mattress and a small wood stove to stay warm! The cabin could very comfortably fit 2 people. We also have three cots and a 2 person tent if there is more than one person interested in coming for the stay. The kitchen and bathroom are in the main house for the volunteer farmer to use whenever they need! Myself (age 21), my parents (in their early 50s) and my two younger sisters (13 and 18) currently live in the main house. I also have two older brothers (in their mid twenties) who live and work about an hours drive away (Charlottetown) and visit from time to time. We are an easy going, relaxed family that values openness, healthy/nonviolent communication, creative thinking, philosophical discussions, and a good sense of humour!

The length of the stay would start off with a one to two week trial period. If both parties are enjoying the exchange, there will be opportunity for an extended stay. However, either party can end the stay whenever they desire. We welcome dogs, children, and couples, no problem.

If you have permaculture skills or experience and are interested in learning about woodworking and taking part in the beginnings of a small, rural, Island business, please feel free to contact us.

Please send references, a resume, and a little information about yourself and we would be willing to do the same for you if you are interested. Also, if you have any questions about the stay, feel free to send me an email.

We hope to hear from you soon!
