Currently in need of people with a passion for cooking, gardening, cob work, art, permaculture garden work and animal care

Hello there,
We are a family building a regenerative agriculture project and learning centre on 130 ha. near the atlantic coast of Vila Nova de Milfontes using permaculture, water management and holistic animal management to regenerate the land. This magical piece of earth has orchards, pastures, forests, valleys, organic gardens and natural ponds and lakes.
We grow our own food in the vegetable garden and orchard, have a dog, cats, chickens, goats, sheep, horses and many other critters wandering around. We also have ecological building work happening.
In the near future we will start setting up an unschooling learning place for children.

If you have particular skills or an interest for eco building, regenerative agriculture, permaculture, Key line, Holistic Management, holistic animal care, earthworks, natural building, stonewalls, woodwork, art, natural learning, cooking, unschooling, or other skills which might be valuable to this project and if what we do inspires you, brings out the best in your creativity and you canít wait to get your hands stuck into the dirt, you are more than welcome to come digging with us

All we ask for is a love for nature and animals, motivation, dedication and a happy soul. In exchange for around 6 hours work a day, we offer 3 meals, accommodation, soul growth and an amazing learning environment.
The minimum stay is 2 weeks on mutual agreement if the connection works well, as we find you actually start to get the most out of the experience after the first two weeks of settling in.
There are mostly around 6 - 10 volunteers at a time.
Sunday is the day off, except for essential animal care. The aim is to work together harmoniously.

Current projects we need help with are:
- working in the permaculture garden
- creating a food forest / forest garden
- pruning and maintenance work in the fruit orchard
- animal care and small scale holistic management
- building a garden dome
- building a rocket stove and furniture
- restoring a Taipa (rammed earth) building
- murials and cob art

This is a place for people who genuinely want to work and get their hands very dirty and learn.

The meals we offer are omnivore and vegetarian (with as much organic home grown produce as possible) You may be asked to become part of the cooking roster. If you have dietary requirements, you will need to bring your own food to supplement.
A Quinta is an alcohol free zone on all days except for Saturday nights.

The accommodation is in a spacious and cosy dormitory or tree house. You will need to bring your own sleeping bag. Sheets and pillows are provided. All facilities like the bathroom, laundry and kitchen are shared in our house. If you have your own camping gear you can stay in the camping area. (tents and vans only)
Please bring your own sleeping bag, towel and biodegradable eco soaps

Internet is limited to an onsite computer which may be used for emailing and basic internet.

In the area there is plenty of natural beauty. We are located within the coastal Nature Park, Parque Natural do Sudoeste Alentejano e Costa Vicentina, near unspoiled beaches, lovely picturesque villages with it's friendly locals and quiet nature. Perfect for biking, surfing, boating, horse riding and hiking..

When applying, please tell us about yourself, your skills, your interests and what motivates you.

Please check our website aquinta.org for more details about the project and the different programs and courses we run.

Thanks for reading and looking forward to hearing from you!
Francine, ferry and family
