My property, beside Mt Korong in Central Victoria, is covered by a Trust For Nature Covenant to protect the regenerating bushland and fauna. I have just completed a strawbale house, which sits at the foot of a granite outcrop. It is a truly beautiful and secluded setting.

I have a double bed in my spare room to offer helpers, also a double sofa bed in the lounge. Bathroom facilities are shared, although there is a second toilet in the shed. The house is off-grid with passive-solar design so it's warm in winter and cool in summer.

There is ongoing conservation work to do around the property, such as chipping out and burning weeds and removing old fences. I also have carpentry work around the house (lining a shed) for anyone skilled in that area, and plenty of brick paving to do around the verandah.

The land and surrounds are great for long bush walks and rock scrambles. There are resident Wedge-tailed eagles, kangaroos, wallabies and parrots, as well as some wonderful migratory birds in spring/summer such as Rainbow Bee-Eaters.

Central Victoria was the focus of prospectors during the mid-late 19th century, and I am 20 minutes drive from the historical gold mining town of Inglewood, and about 50 minutes from Bendigo, which is a beautiful small regional city, rich in goldrush history, with hourly trains to Melbourne. I am only 5 minutes from the Calder Highway en-route to Mildura and environs, a major Victorian fruit picking region for backpackers.

If you have a car, Mt Korong is two and a half hours from Melbourne, otherwise you can take the train to Bendigo, bus to Inglewood and I can pick you up from there.
