Welcome to the Fig's Helpx profile

FIG because there is a huge Figtree protecting our base from concrete and hot sun beams and FIG because it stand for: Freedom is Given

Besides being aware of being blessed from our birth with this untouched gift we take care in practical cases like in caring for three cats, two dogs, a garden and the house.

You can do anything what freedom is inspiring you to do, propose ideas or just be. All this embodied with common sense in horizontality, equality, creativity and joy.

FOR NOW I AM SEARCHING FOR SOMEONE WHO CAN COME AND HELP WITH REOPENING THE HOUSE AS I WAS AWAY FOR TWO MONTHS AND THERE IS WORK TO DO TO MAKE IT LIVEABLE AGAIN. IF YOU DONT MIND TO GET YOUR HANDS DIRTY AND BEING PART OF A UNIQUE CHRONOLOGY YOU ARE MORE THEN WELCOME..

You can come and learn about self-organising and selforganise yourself either for a short or a long term.

For your knowledge about the streams of movements in and around the house our flexible daily tasks in which you could consider to integrate here is as follows:

The mornings
- waking up when you've had enough sleep

- sorting out resources (mainly food) we've collected
- dishes from the last day
- cleaning the livingspaces
- bringing compost to the garden
- having a nice breakfast, if you not already had

During the day

Work in the garden
- cleaning
- collecting wood, soil, mulch & dry organic material (for the compost)
- levelling the ground
- making rainwater collecting system
- making solar shower
- making garden beds
- take part in self-organised pizza nights
- organise a workshop
- making compost toilet
- organise a screening of movie/documentary/presentation

work in/around the house:

- cleaning the toilet & living room
- upgrading the library
- preparing a nice meal to share
- collecting resources
- processing food and making creative diy things for gift shop

The evenings
-the dumbsterround
-cooking a nice meal
- watering plants in the garden/the wildplants and compostheap

We aim to involve all aspects of an inspiring life to share.. This includes environmental, social, educational, spiritual and economical aspects. The affection for our earth and feeling of necessity for freedom to rise up from the grass sparked the Fig into reality.

We don't wait for next disasters to happen, next wars to start for the greed of a few, for others to change; for governments to take responsibility for these choices to make. We have to show the solutions and influence local peoples so that the external world can change with us to this direction. We don't expect them to make the change what we think is needed. We here are passionate to integrate the changes we want in the lifestyle we have and infect others so that governments and other institutions can be influenced as well.

I think that if we really succeed in creating a self-sustainable lifestyle in a communal atmosphere with a cooperation of people like you it will solve many problems we face in the individualized world today. The trust is there to be in our own decisions to make, in our solidarity with others and in our mistakes to learn from so that we can take the next steps in the marathon of life.

How?

At this moment we enjoy already some fruits of the work we did to transform a non used piece of land with an amazing view and green bushes into a community space with a pizza/bread/cakes/lasagna (etc) oven, lounge places and compost-bins. We make this place nicer everyday with a vegetable garden attached to it. In this place we meet locals with whom we share what we can and with that build up the expansion of community initiatives that support gift economy practices.

There are a lot of homesteads abandoned and beautiful spots of land which are not used or used as places to dump trash. Lots of possibilities to share your life here for a while, to discover other ways of living together in a way that embraces the growth of local autonomy, gardening, and exchanging/sharing time, knowledge, skills and passions. I know that there are many people in the world busy in finding ways to live with more happiness and we want to be part of this beautiful flight what is so needed and possible in this time to evolve. Request our website to get to know more about our project. You can find inspiration as well as practical things we already do. You can also directly co-create by sharing your thoughts

Our work philosophy will always be evolving and adapting. We believe that fluid forms of organization, self governance, self reliance and self regulation are the natural way of co-creating. Collective intelligence can emerge in groups where trust, responsibility and solidarity are cultivated. Knowledge is to be shared openly, participation encouraged and cooperation nourished while merits and individual qualities are to be appreciated. Internal motivation makes punishments and rewards obsolete and a commitment to personal growth and loving service to others the communitarian way. We recognize imperfections, accidents and errors as natural aspects of manifestation. Different world-views, beliefs and life practices can co-exist in symbiosis if we all lovingly cherish and respect each-others freedom to be as we are.

The vision

We breath in peace and exhale abundance for present and future generations.

The mission

spark autonomy in itís four aspects:
Environment, Social, Cultural and Economic

ENVIRONMENT
We embrace a simple way of living in peace and harmony with nature supporting the Permaculture principles: care for the earth, care for the people and fair share.

We like to work on the following subjects to achieve this:

- community gardens from which we will be able to eat and share local, healthy food
- operating a self organized farm outside of the city
- support other environmental structures that are in place

SOCIAL
As we shift our own individual paradigms, so we shift the collective paradigm. The healing of the world starts from within, only then, with this consciousness, a new culture of love, peace and abundance can emerge from our hearts toward a brighter future. We believe we can have an impact on society, sharing knowledge, awakening and bringing this wisdom into a new level of consciousness, working together and individually trough daily practices and education on sustainability, non-violent communication, permaculture and spiritual practices.

CULTURAL
We are an open-source community of individuals who values the preservation of ancestral culture (permaculture) and wisdom and want this to be rediscovered. We selforganise a library, host travelers, volunteers and events/projects in the neighborhood

ECONOMICAL
Most of our events, projects and workshops are organized from passions and donations from participants involved, in accordance with the principles of Gift Economy. On Gift Economy we ensure that everyone can access the events and also encouraging the participants to take responsibility for the next events to take place and benefit others.

"Your vision will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes." - Carl Jung

Organisational structure of the house and the open collaborative projects

The organizational structure is projected on 3 layers:

A steering group (of at least two people) that upholds the community aspect in the house and the extension of community feeling in the local community. This upholds responsibilities to handle any difficulties that arise even if they have not specifically assumed responsibility on those issues involved and have the final word on decisions (right of veto).

A core group of people that cooperate to co-create projects in a selforganisesd, participatory and decentralized way. They transparently assume clear self defined responsibility on specific tasks and roles and are part of both the creative and decisional processes, but do not have the right to veto decisions (no final word in critical issues).

An outer circle composed of partner projects, organizations and groups and also individuals that wish to contribute to projects we do in different ways (physical labor, advice, presentations and dynamics, assets, knowledge, networks, etc.) but that do not want to take part in the organizational and planning work.

The beliefs we share are:
There is a God, there is no God, there are many Gods, i am divine. Basically money is not the goal, but a fulfilling and happy self-sustainable lifestyle is. We share our surplus with others in the unconditional wish we will receive surplus of others when we need. People's individual choices are fine, eat meat, don't eat meat, smoke or drink fresh herb tea, we don't demonize other people's choices.
Sometimes people's choices and scope can be outside the general scope of the group, then we encouraged to create new groups to keep the bonds of closeness strong and to explore these choices and scopes to their fullest extent.

We do not impose rules here, but cultivate open collaboration.

There are many focuses but we've found that "love" and "nature" is what seems to hold things together, any other premise seems to lead to things going in a direction that slowly ruins all social situations from the premise.
