Our lovely traditional (rustic) house is nestled among olive and orange groves. The house is spacious with large gardens, a little swimming pool, a brick barbecue, a sunny terrace where we spend happy evenings, plus a pizza oven in the generous kitchen. We have 3 double bedrooms, a lounge / dining room that doubles as a shared room, plus two shower rooms - so plenty of space for our community of Helpers!

The house is a 5 min drive / 15 min walk to the town of Montserrat (with shops, bars, cafes etc) We have everything we need close by, yet still enjoy a 'close to nature' lifestyle, and peace and tranquility. It's heaven here!

We're also only 30 minutes drive from Valencia, so our HelpX volunteers get plenty of opportunities to enjoy the city vibe, or relax on the city's beaches. We have a car and are able to collect HelpX-ers from Valencia when they first arrive - and of course, we can give lifts to the village and neighbouring towns while you are staying with us.

Here's the deal:
You volunteer for 4 hours a day - mending fences, painting walls and generally brightening up this lovely house, ready for new tenants to take over in Mid-November. We also do lovely little art projects like the mosaic mirror you can see in the photos - a chance to have fun and make our lovely house even lovelier! You'll get free bed and board, plentiful healthy food, and a wonderful cultural experience with a chance to practice English / Spanish in a fun community setting. You'll enjoy at least one full day off every week when you are free to travel, relax, or wander the orange groves or join us on on a trip to somewhere interesting.

As an experienced HelpX host, I have made many lasting friends from past HelpX projects. (4 of my previous volunteers have been back to work on this Valencia project ... so that's a good recommendation!) I promise friendly, comfortable accommodation and a fun holiday in a friendly community, with all 'meals at home' included. And the food - I am told - is VERY GOOD!!!!

NOTE: I only have one RULE and that is that I cannot accommodate smokers (even if you smoke away from the house) This is due to severe allergies. 3rd hand smoke lingering on clothes will still trigger a hospital stay for my fragile lungs. SO NO SMOKERS PLEASE.

If you want to know more:
Although I am English, we are in the heart of Spain in a Spanish community, and this is very much a cultural exchange. We have a fabulous resident German at the moment and 2 fabulous Polish HelpX girls - so we're a lovely cultural mix! I work hard to ensure all my volunteers enjoy the unique setting and get out and about to discover the culture, whether that's a trip to see an ancient castle, find a museum or just chilling in a street cafe or on a beach. I work hard to make sure volunteers get lots of opportunities to practice their Spanish (especially when the builder comes and I can't understand what he is saying!!!) I provide plentiful and delicious meals, which we all help prepare and cook. My aim is to create an international community where everyone gains from being here!

We usually try to work for 4 hours in the morning before the sun gets too hot, then we all chill in the middle of the day. (Siesta - the BEST Spanish invention!) We often take a trip to a nearby town or tourist spot in the afternoons, and in the evenings we share a glass of vino, delicious food and play Board Games (great for learning languages) We also enjoy music and guitar playing round the fire, and I just bought a harmonica (which might probably send you running for home!) But seriously, if you like being with like-minded, happy people and enjoy a good laugh, you will have a lot of fun with us!

We also have two cheeky dogs (spaniels), Jarvis Cocker (7) and Oscar (almost 2). They are enjoying learning to 'sit' and 'stay' and give a 'paw' in lots of different languages!

We have space NOW up to mid-November. If you'd like to join our happy house project, drop me a line and we'll get back to you straight away. Adios!
