We are a Hare Krishna community of 100 people with 25 different nationalities in the Belgian Ardennes.
We have approx. 1000m2 of permaculture garden and a cow protection program (we never kill any of our animals)
Volunteers will work primarily in our garden and help with our cows-milking, cleaning the stable and working with our oxen. Besides that there will be some work in the flower gardens and sometimes volunteers will be asked to help in the restaurant or in our kitchen there is also some wall building the be done around a pump to insulate it.
Next year (2015) March/April one of our team members will be gone for 4 weeks due to family circumstances. We will very much welcome anyone who wants to come and help us prepare our garden for the summer during that period.
Even though we are obviously a religious community, we love hosting different people here and we never expect visitors or volunteers to attend any of our religious programs (although they are free to do so if they wish). However, we do have a policy of no alcohol or drugs and no meat, fish or eggs on our property. Smoking is allowed away from the main buildings.
So far, most of our volunteers have really enjoyed themselves here and since we have many people from different backgrounds living here, everyone can always find someone to connect with.
Please note that it is difficult for us to host couples, because our volunteers stay in dormitories and these are not mixed gender. If couples want to camp during the warmer season, there is no problem.
