Kia ora!

Our names are Cat and Aaron and we live on the lovely Awhitu Peninsula, which is a small rural community on the coast, about one and a half hours south west of Auckland. We have two lovely young kids (2 and 4 years), a cat, two cows and 2 beehives.

We are at the beginning of our journey to transform our property into a sanctuary for our friends, family and like-minded people. We are renovating our house and landscaping the grounds with an environmentally-friendly and creative focus. We are passionate about gardening and incorporating permaculture principals into the way we work the land.

We are going through a busy stage of our lives and we would love someone to come and help us mainly inside our home with the day to day cleaning, tidying and helping with the children. But also, you will need to be happy to be outside getting your hands dirty in the garden with us.

Experience with young children is essential, as well as being patient and compassionate. We need someone who will be comfortable and capable to look after our children for a couple of hours at a time whilst Aaron works in his woodworking workshop on our property (but he is around if you or the kids need him, Cat would be at work). This would only be on the odd occasion, not everyday. Experience in babysitting, childcare or being an Au Pier would be ideal for us :)

You will need suitable footwear for working in for the times that we would like you to help in the garden. Such as gumboots or hiking boots/shoes that you don't mind getting dirty.

Your accommodation is in a separate building to our house with its own basic toilet and basin. The bathroom is in the house. We eat healthy wholesome food with a lot of vegetables from our own garden and all meat raised by ourselves on our property.

There are lots of really lovely beaches in our area and you have the choice of the wild black sand west coast and the calm white sanded beaches of the harbour. All really lovely places for exploring.

It is preferred that you have your own vehicle as it would make exploring the area easier. However this is not essential, and we will do our best to take you to the sights :) If you do not have a car, you can catch the train and bus from Auckland to Waiuku and we will arrange a time to pick you up.

Please feel free to contact us to enquire further.
