Gygratun is a small farm just by the Hardangerfjord,
close to Folgefonna National Park with the glacier.

Here are many mountains with marked tracks, such as the famous Trolltunga,
or just beyond our farm, the 1340 m high Gygrastol with an overwhelming view.

See; www//gygratun.no and FB; Gygratun

We need one person who has skills and experiences with carpentry, and someone for gardening and cleaning.
Working time is 5 hours a day. You will have free Saturday and Sunday.

In your free time you can, for example, do hikes, go kayaking or fishing,
use the wireless internet, play an instrument
paint and do stained glasswork.

We who run this farm are a married couple; Leif Kongestøl and Hulda Bohlin.
Leif manages an institute for health and care and Hulda is a painter and art tutor.
For several years she has had an art studio/gallery in Rosendal. See rosendalkunstverkstad.no

We keep some few animals.

It's only 7 min. to the bus stop. 40 min. drive to the parking from where you start the Trolltunga hike.
20 min. drive to the closest village, Rosendal, surrounded by beautiful high mountains
and with the wonderful Barony Rosendal from the 17th century, absolutely worth a visit.
To get to Bergen, a very nice town, it takes 3 hours on the bus, and to Bergen Airport it takes only 2 hours by boat.

From 15 May to 15 September you can hike to Trolltunga without a guide.
From the middle of October to April, it's usually not possible to do this hike.
If you plan to go to Trolltunga you can take the bus from Ænes to the parking at Trolltunga with a change in Odda.
You'll need to start very early in the morning for this hike. It's important to have good shoes and equipment.
Also sufficient knowledge about the risks.

However there are many other hikes to do and places to visit nearby for example;

-Folgefonna glacier
-Many mountains with marked paths, such as Gygrastol, Melderskin, Malmangernuten, Kvanto, Ulvanoso.
-Beautiful valleys with rivers such as Ænesdalen, Sundal, Gjetingsdalen, Hilldal, Muradalen and Guddal.
-Waterfalls such as Furubergsfossen, Låtefossen and Vørings-fossen.

If you wish to be invited you have to be:

- good at speaking and understanding English

- able to clean after yourself

- orderly and practical

- able to adjust to farm life

- a good listener

- able to follow and learn instructions from lists
we have had some difficult experiences with helpers who have neglected
to read and follow the directions that we have made to avoid suffering for the animals.
and damaging tools, machines, items, furniture and so on.

- able to do animal care, projects and indoor chores correctly and efficiently

- observant

- respectful

- not be argumentative about how things are done here, (we are open to good ideas though).

- able to work independently

- considerate of the animals

- able to entertain yourselves and not expect too long conversations with us.
