**Hi All, we have had some FABULOUS Helpers in the Sanctuary for the last few months, thank you so much..
We need some help from 18th December due to a cancellation ..

****N.B. : PLEASE DO NOT APPLY UNLESS you LOVE animals and birds, and are happy with the hard work, lots of daily jobs and sometimes long hours that looking after them entails ..We have had several helpers lately who expected otherwise and who did not read our Profile or long info email, Please please please please read both carefully and do not apply if you are not happy to muck in and help us to look after our many many rescued animals and birds properly ****

#*#* We have a vacancy for one helper at the sanctuary, In December, as detailed below.. ..
**** You MUST be an animal lover, dedicated, and happy with different hours every day ..

** N.B. .. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE READ OUR PROFILE carefully.. This is very detailed to try to avoid misunderstandings ..
We have a huge number of rescued animals and birds and their daily care is vitally important, so a true animal lover is a must.. as well as animal care there is often weeding / field maintenance / painting required to improve our rescued horses and ponies lives (Weeding large fields will be starting now ) .. we also have several large hen rescues coming up too, which are always very rewarding to attend and you will get the chance to travel all over the country ..
We need helpers who are GENUINE ANIMAL LOVERS, who have a great interest in animal welfare and who will go the EXTRA distance for our rescued animals and birds, some days can be long and hard, as rescued animals don't stick to a 9am to 3pm routine !!
Littlehill Animal Rescue & Sanctuary rescues animals and birds from a variety of deplorable situations and death. We provide Vet care, rehabilitate and find new homes. we are a strict 'No Kill' and so any animals or birds who are unrehomeable stay in the Sanctuary for life. We have to date rescued over 46,000 ex battery cage hens from slaughter, then rehabilitated them and found them new homes. We have a flock of ex batts who are permanent residents at the sanctuary, along with horses, feral cats, dogs, hens, ducks, geese, turkey, pigeons, sheep, goats and four pigs. You will learn a lot re animal care and behaviour.
The daily work includes taking care of many animals and birds, looking after our organic hens, eggs and veg boxes. Depending on the Season there are different daily jobs ie general maintenance, weeding in paddocks, fencing, painting, General maintenance and some housework. It takes approx 6 hours per day, some like to go more slowly so it takes a lot longer ! or there is a 'bed and breakfast only' option for three hours help per day, so you would be free from 12 noon & could go off out every day exploring, this would be expected. Please specify which option you would prefer .. nb : Pocket money available for longer stays ..
Accommodation is in the Gate Lodge/wooden house, it is basic but comfortable, two double bedrooms, bathroom, heating, hot water bottles, cooking facilities with lots of fresh vegetarian food and snacks provided. You have your own TV, bicycles available. NB If you are a meat eater this is probably not the place for you. Laundry facilities are limited so please bring plenty of clothes.
We go to Dublin regularly so helpers can have several hours to explore Dublin. On your days off we can drop you to several local buses, you can go the day before, stay over and so travel a bit further round Ireland. We can help you with bus/train routes and suggestions of interesting places to see.
Daily hours vary, helpers need to be flexible and will have one and a half days off per week. We need helpers who have a sincere interest in animals and their welfare.
Buses available to anywhere in Ireland all within a few kms and bicycles available to explore the beautiful surrounding countryside.
We request applicants stay for a minimum of four weeks, longer stays are even better and we BEG that applicants read our Profile carefully, have realistic expectations and give us definite dates of departure, so we can plan ..
THANK YOU to our recent fabulous helper, Leonard, who helped here for nearly three months, you are a pleasure to know and also to Fanny and then to Gracie, and also to Pia & Hasret who were here for over three months and then Aine for two months , Aude, and now Lana .. it was and is an absolute pleasure to have you here :)
Please contact us as soon as possible if you are committed to the above and would like to come and help.. We really appreciate and welcome committed helpers ..
