My partner and I live on a beautiful 100 acre property (most of which is native forest) which needs ongoing maintenance including maintaining tracks, clearing weeds from drains on our 600m driveway, and splitting and stacking firewood. There is always a carpentry project happening (if you have those skills). Also general farm work (we have sheep), which can involve lifting.

Our preference is someone who was brought up in the countryside, is strong, and capable with machinery. An international drivers licence would be a bonus. We like people who work hard, and are capable of doing so without supervision! We do not usually need help with housework.

In return for 4 hours work for every night you stay, we look after you well! Our food is good wholesome farm cooking. (Unfortunately we do not cater for vegetarian/vegan diets)

Please note we do not offer a single overnight stay. We want a person(s) who will stay for a minimum of 3 days

Because our climate here on the west coast can be wet, be prepared to work in the rain sometimes, although we try to find indoor work. There is always some choice of work, and you can vary your hours to suit eg do a full days work then take the next day off.... At the moment the long term forecast is for fine weather here
(after cyclone Gita1)

Our property has wonderful views overlooking the Taramakau River, and is secluded (although the property is close to the main highway). It offers great panoramic views of the river valley and great walking access via tracks to both the river and through our native bush. There is excellent fishing in the river directly below our farmhouse.

Most of the helpxers we have had so far have have been people in their mid 20s. Many have stayed here longer than a week because they enjoyed our surroundings.

We provide good home prepared food and also we like to have a good time. We have accommodation for you within the house and usually the use of a separate bathroom.

Please note that our property is a no smoking zone.
