We are looking for help this autumn to finish the house. We are so busy in the grounds with developments that we need help with tiling, fitting kitchen, fitting bathrooms, decorating and minor DIY.
Please read further to see what we are up to.
Thanks for your interest.

Mark and I have been converting the site into a conservation breeding collection of threatened and endangered birds. Our focus will be to work with threatened wildfowl, high altitude pheasants, flamingos, grouse (native species like capercaillie and ptarmigan) and parrots.

In the last three years we have started our collection which is currently about three hundred birds (emu, rhea, swans, geese, ducks and an array of rare breed chickens and ducks). We have built pens and dug lakes. We've planted hundreds of trees, orchards, hedging and mixed woodlands which will provide wind protection and food for grouse.

We have a great caravan which has two double beds / tables. It would be ideal for a couple who could set up home in it. It would equally suit friends travelling in Scotland together. We also have a cabin which is also suitable for couples or friends travelling together.

Both caravan and cabin have electricity and wifi.

Oxton is a quiet and friendly village. There is a great pub, village shop and many lovely walks in the surrounding hills.

Edinburgh city centre is twenty five miles away and there is a good bus service from Oxton to Edinburgh. We encourage volunteers to go exploring on the weekend, although you are of course welcome to stay and relax. The bus also provides service further south into the Scottish Borders which is rich in culture and history.

If you fancy being a part of this adventure with the opportunity to work with some pretty awesome birds then get in touch!

Please note this can be physically demanding.
We don't accept volunteers under 18.
