We have a beautiful piece of land of nearly 5 acres, above the Iskar river, 1 hour from Sofia.
The purpose of the ashram is to give space for people to grow towards their own inner power and beauty, through collective and individual spiritual practices and by karma yoga, which means dedicated work throughout the day.
We offer on top our guidance and experience in transforming the jungles of your mind and emotional bodies into blossoming gardens…
We are non dogmatic; LOVE is our religion....
we love Baba, Amma, Jesus, Allah... and above all - our brothers and sisters all on the same journey to oneness..
We have a spiritual Mother and Father who are the guides and inspirations to the ashram. Amma (Amritanandamayi Mata) and Babaji (Haidakhan Baba)...
It is their teachings we follow and try to embody.
With devoted practice, discipline and humility and using the qualities of Truth, Simplicity and Love, as well as the vehicles of karma and bhakti yoga we are heading for the direction of Oneness. To know our Ultimate Nature, live and share it in our every day lives and help people find their Inner Truth is our mission...
Your help will mostly be outdoors. Therefore the tasks we can offer very much also depend on weather conditions.
-In the garden: cutting grass, weeding, watering, planting etc
-Around the house & existing buildings: cleaning, cooking and so on
-General land maintenance with simple down-to-earth tools
-Building new spaces using clay, wood, natural materials. There are many projects in eco construction for the coming few years so you will be kept busy!! :)
- And this is only on the outer level- you will also be met with and confronted with your own shadows that ask for clearance, topics and issues will naturally emerge that need your loving attention, so besides the outer work you might also find yourself doing a lot of inner work...
Twice a day we sing pray and perform spiritual practice, in total around 3 hours daily. As this is a vital part of the ashram life, all who visit participate in this practice.
It would be helpful if you can bring skills and knowledge in the field of gardening, permaculture & eco-construction, but if not you will learn and experiment with us.
To visit us you don't need to have any previous ashram experience nor practise or knowledge of yoga, what is above all most important is an open heart and sincere wish for inner growth and transformation and the readiness to shed your sweat and sometimes tears for it...
Life in the ashram is based on the Yogic principles of wellbeing, and in order to come in touch with your own inner guidance, you will be expected to adjust to the ashram rhythm. That means, getting up early in the morning, shower, your own (if any) practice, attending common spiritual practice, karma yoga and so on.
Typical daily schedule:
(The timings depend on the season, usually wake up time is between 5-6:30 AM)
Wake up, shower
Time for personal practice: yoga, meditation, etc
Morning devotional program, puja, common prayers and kirtan, (1 - 1,5 hr)
Karma yoga (2 -3 hr)
Karma yoga (2-3 hr)
Evening devotional program, aarti and kirtan, (1-1,5hr)
Sleep (around 10-11pm)
On Sundays there is a fire ceremony (havan) at 10am , and usually due to this celebratory mood we take it more easy during the day.
Once/twice per week you will get a day off to feel and follow your own rhythm.
Often we are asked what one should bring to an ashram, here are some suggestions :
*?Comfortable clothes and shoes, according to the season:
-loose fitting comfortable clothes
-something for outside work that you wouldn't mind getting dirty
-and some nice clothes for the rituals and special events
(simplicity and modesty is preferred in dress code to maintain focus, for prayers and rituals please have clean dresses that you will only use for this purpose)
*?Sleeping bag, own bedsheet & pillow case (if it's convenient)
*?Yoga mat if you practice asanas
*?Toiletries (preferably Eco-friendly)
*?Light snacks/foods for times in between meals
*?A journal for your reflections
*?All of your heart
We provide 2-3 vegan/vegetarian meals a day. We can adapt to special dietary needs, but please make sure to let us know before of any requirements you have.
There is no electricity or internet in the ashram, so please prepare accordingly....
- Cosy cob guesthouse for up to 5 people (see gallery)
- yoga shala 'Shakti Nivaas' - new building with space for activities/exercises and if necessary, accommodation for up to 10 people
- a beautiful tree house with space for a couple
- outside pavilion, for daytime rest, can be used as a shelter at night
- natural forest 'rooms', with a hammock & space to rest during hot days
- plenty of space for own tents.
What else ...
The place is in a very small village with little to do besides appreciating the natural beauty of the surroundings. You will find that the life and your experience here is so intense, that you won't have any need to go outside, although if you are a curious explorer, there are many forests and mountains at your fingertips....
There are also regular trains to and from Sofia, if you wish to sightsee the city.
You can access internet on your own device in a cafe with wi-fi in the nearby town.
Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
You can learn with us discipline, surrender, self control, how to quieten the mind and take charge of it, instead of the other way round.
You can learn how to live from your heart and love without judgements, concepts, limitations.
You can experience devotion, peace and harmony and learn how to practically apply it in your life for your benefit as well as and those around you.
You can get deeper understanding about the sense of life and what is your mission in it, gain healthy attitude towards all aspect of life, let go of wrong beliefs.... and so on......
