LOOKING FOR 7-21 SEPTEMBER 2016

We offer a unique holiday experience where guests stay in hand crafted French Roulottes around a lochan (small loch/lake) in a wildflower meadow. We have 7 Roulottes, holiday cottage and Bowtop where guests stay for short breaks to enjoy life in the countryside in harmony with nature - eco, chic and romantic! Our Studio is also available for Workshops, Events, Celebrations, Family and Friends Get togethers, Elopements and Boutique Weddings with 22 guests able to stay on site.

We require help throughout the year as well as in the busy summer/autumn months, mainly with changeover duties and housekeeping alongside our friendly changeover team but also gardening, meeting and greeting guests, organising the eco hot tubs, general maintenance, painting, feeding the chickens and pet geese, walking the dogs, etc. We also like helpers who are willing to take a turn in cooking for the team of helpers and us and welcome tasting your favourite recipes from your home country.
Also opportunities for photographers to create photographs, short films of our site. Help with social media, publicity, pr are also useful skills we appreciate.
Musicians very welcome, in fact would love some saxophone lessons from sax players.
We would also appreciate help at different times of the year as we are open all year round.
It is helpful to be able to communicate fairly well in English as we like our helpers to be able to show our guests around Roulotte Retreat and into their accommodation.

We offer accommodation and food, often eating together enjoying each other's cooking in return for 5 hours work per day with a day off per week. Of course it is possible to work more on some days and have additional days off too to enjoy exploring the surrounding countryside and Scotland's capital, Edinburgh is only an hour away and it's Edinburgh Festival in August/September.
We offer free wifi, laundry facilities and helpers are very welcome to join in Avril's weekly Yoga class.
The owners, Avril and Alan live on site with their friendly deerhound lurcher dogs, pet geese (2) and chickens. There is accommodation either in the cottage so you get your own space and in our mill house (2 double bedrooms). We also have a caravan for your complete privacy.

We are situated in the countryside near Melrose just below the Eildon Hills with little public transport, shops are 2 miles away. It is possible to hire bicycles from a local company.
We are in the heart of the Scottish Borders countryside with excellent walking nearby, up the legendary Eildon Hills, St Cuthbert's Way, Southern Upland Way and River Tweed.
Excellent for bird watching, wildlife, star gazing. The Scottish Borders also has excellent mountain biking facilities, horse riding, sports, arts and crafts. We are one hour away from Edinburgh which is accessible by car, bus or our new railway link which takes 55 minutes to the city.

We are looking forward to a good experience where there is a fun and beneficial exchange where helpers work alongside us and our staff. We love people who can work on their own initiative as well as part of our Roulotte Retreat team. Good sense of humour is essential.
We only joined Helpx in June 2015 and so far we have loved the experience with all the different helpers from many countries.

We may be also looking for house, goose and chicken sitting in January 2017 for 3-4 weeks. Get in touch if you are interested in a retreat in the winter in the Scottish Borders countryside.

Look forward to hearing from you.
