Beautiful chateau guest house specialising in all inclusive family holidays and weddings.
Set in idyllic country location. Near all the major tourist sights - Mont St Michel, Bayeux tapestry, D Day beaches.

I have all the helpers I need for 2011, but there is a pattern to the year if you want to be considered for 2012

During spring (March and April) I tend to look for a band of helpers to get the house and grounds ready for the season. Lots of spring cleaning, painting and gardening (light and heavy work, building works, concreting etc. Happy to take up to six helpers during this period and varied skills are welcome. Builders of all types are particularly welcome in March and April.

During May and June I am after couples (can be two friends travelling together) to help with day to day running of the guest house. Happy to take people for one or two weeks during this period.

From the beginning of July I am after a couple to stay eight weeks. Would be a great help if at least one of you was good with children, as duties would include some child care most days. Other duteies include help with cooking, breakfasts, cleaning rooms, gardening, child care etc

Please note I usually only take couples or friends travelling together as I find this works best for everyone at Le Castel, which is in the middle of the countryside. It is a great help if you are over 25 and can drive as then you can borrow my mini bus on your days off.

However, builders or handy diy-ers or seamstresses are often welcome as solo travellers, especially if I have other helpers already here.

We are in the countryside but close to all the top tourist sights in Normandy.
It is a big benefit if you have a car or motorbike as there is no public transport. However, almost all of our helpx-ers have not had transport and they have all enjoyed themselves.
I can often drop you off at a railway station in the morning and pick you up later after a day exploring. We also have bikes you can use. We are 3km from a village and 10km from the city of Coutances. The beach is 12km.
Our nearest railway station is in the cathedral city of Coutances, which is ten minutes away.
Lots of good food provided plus wine and beer with dinner.
A couple usually get their own little cottage in the grounds with a large bedroom, ensuite shower room, study area, small lounge and kitchenette. Bigger groups during the spring get a well appointed two bedroomed and two bathroomed cottage with full kitchen, dining room and lounge in winter.
We can have intensely busy periods followed by times with no clients, so your work pattern would not be set in stone. However, you can often have every afternoon off or you can group a couple of free days together so you can go exploring.
The first two pictures show the outside of the chateau and one of the bedrooms. The second two photos are of the accommodation available for the use by helpx volunteers. Other photos of the grounds plus owner Jon (the llamas have now gone to a new home)
