WE ARE IN NEED FOR HELP IN GARDEN!
One of our main gardeners can't be with us suddenly, so please consider applying to help us out. All lovely products need harvesting!

Our passionate kitchen team is now looking for experienced cooks for season 2016!
We would love to hear from you whether you are an experienced professional or a keen amateur. We are mainly looking for full-time cooks who could lead the shift and have experience of vegetarian cooking. Ideally we are looking for people who could stay the season 2016. Season is 7 months, from April to October.
Also shorter term volunteering most welcome, but we hope for a minimum commitment of one month.
We are cooking vegetarian food for our guests using produce much of which is grown by our own gardeners.
The Holy Isle multi-faith retreat centre is situated on a beautiful remote small island next to Arran off the west coast of Scotland. See pictures of us by googling Holy isle or look for Holy isle Project on FB. Our isle is a truly special place with wild ponies and sheep and a strong spiritual energy.
Work is 6 hours a day for 5 days a week. Lunch is the main meal of the day cooked by 2-5 people. Evening soup with freshly baked bread is done by 2. We are catering for 15 to 75 people a day.
You will have free accommodation and meals. There is a trial period of 2 weeks for everyone new coming at a cost of 15 pounds a night. That is the time for you to see if you like being here, not that much about us critically watching over you :)
On trial accommodation is most likely in single sex dorm, after that you will have your own room.
You are able to join in most of the course/retreat programs when not working.
Some volunteers here are Buddhist, some not. We are a beautiful mix of people from different backgrounds, countries and spiritual traditions. We only ask everyone to live, while being here, according to Five Golden Rules:
• To respect life and refrain from killing
• To respect other people's property and refrain from stealing
• To speak the truth and refrain from lying
• To encourage health and refrain from intoxicants (including alcohol, cigarettes and drugs)
• To respect others and refrain from sexual activity that causes harm.
GARDEN and HOUSEKEEPING are also looking for help.
There is also possibility to help taking care of environment with our residential monk for a week or two at the time.
Apply through our webpage or email questions to us.
We would love to hear from you and tell you more about this unique place!
We mainly have no signal for mobile phones (and for some who are looking for quiet time that is just heavenly), no pets because we are conservatory area for wild animals, only suitable for people over 16, we have ferry coming daily and internet + computers for volunteers to use.
You only need to bring your own supply of chocolate and waterproofs :)
