This farm, a 22-acre family-run operation in the rolling hills of Samaria, Victoria, is looking for enthusiastic Wwoofers.

In return we can provide food, comfortable accommodation and an insight into the way of life of a small, family-owned Australian farm running a unique business. You'd be staying with a friendly and welcoming family: myself (Vicki), my husband Allan and our son, 24 year-old Billy, either in our house or in a cute and cosy caravan on our property, with access to all household amenities and hearty helpings of good food (mostly made from our farm grown produce!) to keep your energy up.

Based on our research, we have reason to believe we are the only producer of rose oil and rose water in Victoria, and the only farm in Australia to produce these on site. On the farm you'll see thousands of our rose plants, along with a beautiful abundance of other flowers in the Spring.

We also grow lemons in our orchard, along with olives and lemon myrtle. We have chooks, a couple of cows, a flock of Dorper sheep and some dogs.

At the moment we are looking for wwoofers who don't mind an early rise to help out during our rose picking season, beginning in November.

Roses are our bread and butter and so this is the most important time of the year for us on the farm. After a year of cultivation, our 3,000 beautiful Damask roses will bloom and we have to pick them all and distill them over a period of three to four weeks in order to make our essential rose oil and rosewater.

The work involves getting out into the field each day at day break (around 5.30 a.m.), picking and collecting the roses. By 8.am. we stop as the sun causes the roses to release their oil and it gets too hot.

At that point you'd be done with picking and there'd be other farm work during the day for a work day of around six hours total. We have a spa and swimming pool overlooking the beautiful valley which we often use to relax after a busy morning of rose picking.

If you are a reliable and hard-working person and this unique Australian experience is something that appeals to you, please get in touch. We'd prefer those who can come for at least two weeks at a time and preferably stay for the full month at least. You can check us out on our website and Facebook page (see links above).

At other times of the year there is still plenty to do, more normal work schedules (not a 5am rise!) as well as no time limit on visits so do get in touch if this sounds appealing.
