La Novella is a finely restored, old (more than 1000 years) Tuscan villa located in the chianti hills just out of Florence (30 minutes away) facing San Gimignano and surrounded by the charming beauty of the Tuscan country side.

My family entirely restored the property in the early 80's initially making it its own holiday house.
It's only a few years after that they decide to convert it into a holiday villa for 'high end short period rentals', thus making most of the focus shifting on the villa and the land lacking of proper guidance and dedicated attention other then basic maintenance.

Coming from many different experiences and a complete different professional life, in 2012 I decide to move here to take care of the land and implement with its fruits and products, the family business, namely offering yummy, organic delicious food for our guests' meals.
Taking advantage of a European founding to young entrepreneurs' projects I could venture into a few investments to make our 15 hectares, mainly olive groves (about 2000 trees) productive again. I converted the farm into certified organic (it had always been anyway as a family philosophy) and started buzzing around with 20 bee-hives between other many little things...

The house is very comfortable, it normally accommodates 8 people with each room having its own bathroom, a big warm kitchen and of course a huge fireplace where you can actually sit inside in winter days...
During the olive picking season (November) I use it to host 2 to 4 volunteers to help with the harvest. The work is easy and mostly pretty relaxing, it consists of 'shaking or combing' down the olives with some sort of a rake, helping collecting the nets (with the olives) and boxes (where they stay until going to the press) and help out with the olives-oil logistics in the pressing days...
This doesn't mean it's not going to be tiring!... Just not heavy, that kind of nice feeling you get after a good swim or a ski day...I'll require about 5 hrs of work (no work on rainy days) in change of accommodation and meals. Normally we cook and eat together and we provide "basic" though yummy and healthy food, normally vegetarian and rinsed with a couple of glasses of good Chianti wine. The rest is peace, music, fireplace and perhaps a bit of grappa.
Useful tip: the house is set in the countryside, the best way to move around is by car. I'll be happy to take you to visit Florence, Siena or the surroundings (if raining) but you should not take that to for granted as it's full working season and consider renting a car. Alternatively of course trains (15 min away, I can drive you there easily) or bus (10 min away, driving). Both Florence and Siena are 1 hr away on public transports (trains run more often though).
