Sorry Christmas is coming and we love a bit of a family experience, best wishes to all travellers out there hope you have a great and blessed time.
we.are a small family with young children (though we were born when Mum and Dad were in their 40s), dogs, horses, calves, cats....on a lifestyle block in an area which is 45% maori, though not in the manner of tourist traps... however still much of the culture to experience in our area......and also stunning scenery when you go looking...
We have really enjoyed the helpers who have pitched in and worked as well as gotten out and about to look around. there is so much to be done here, as long as you are laid back, willing to work and can cope with children dogs and work as well as our rather chaotic and full lifestyle it would be great to have you....
I will generally show you what jobs need doing and leave you to it, I would appreciate you putting your tools away at the end, but in the middle, its up to you to make a good job of whatever you do...though please, I am weirdly fussy about some things....(like is that straight or not)
We are 45 minutes from Rotorua just off the main highway and 20 minutes from Whakatane, 10 minutes from Kawerau, and just round the corner from the bike park.. closest shops/swimming pools (free) are 10km away, beach about 20minutes lakes about 15 minutes drive....
We are into Summer, the fruit is on the trees, at the moment we are juicing oranges fresh picked each day. soon it will be plums then apples grapes and it goes on...
We seem to be continually too busy, and I hate cleaning, so would like a hand with a cleaner/ gardner in the next month as well as children helper....
Currently we are renovating and stacked to the gunnels with many unfinished projects and in a mess... (I) Mum is exhausted from all the jobs and chasing the kids and the calves...and it looks like I have forgotten how to clean, put stuff away, or make a bed!!!
Always lots to be done here"
What I need help with is a joiner/carpenter type who likes woodwork and can do finish work as well as some work in the kitchen...
carpet/vinyl needs laying, there is 60m2 coming and I need a good layer...
some hedges and fences need trimming and painting.
cleaning is continually on the list as I am crap at it, and being on a lifestyle block means kids dogs and me in and out all the time...
a general housekeeper/child helper...lots of cleaning....lots and lots....and some painting inside and possibly the house outside if it ever stops raining!!!
Office is a bit busy again so some soughting is always good...
If you can watch for the children anytime you are around with tools (as they tend to be very interested in anything happening)
The Kids are now getting really adventurous and Mum needs help keeping an eye on them if she is doing another project, so anytime you are around, interacting with them helps. and making sure they dont go up the garden and onto the road....
the bed/bath available for helpx is in tidy condition with the option of a double room for a couple or single room (great bed) for a single, there is enough room to chill out.
Generally we have fruit in the garden, and eat basic meals - which actually doesn't mean just a bowl of rice! we drink water/coffee or tea, if you want to purchase your own wine and drink moderately (kids round) thats fine with me, however no drugs please...non smokers would be better as well.
would like 5 hours a day most days or full days on alternate, however Saturday is always a day off. As we never work on Saturdays and ask that you don't either, its time for Mum to have peace and quiet and fun with the kids. At that time we hope you will enjoy getting out and about in the area!..
Please be aware you will need to pitch in with the general jobs in the kitchen etc...don't need my workload increased and definitely am not strong in the cleaning area!
while we have now had 3 helpx people who weren't that comfortable around dogs - until they had tried our immersion therapy, by time they left it was all cuddles...
it really helps if you can tolerate dogs as we have 5 indoor dogs which will try to sneak onto your bed if you let them, 2 cats which sleep in the laundry at night, and 2 small children which you must be willing to talk to, laugh with, and keep an eye on when they go walking the property...
