Hello. We're Kezz & Nathalie, a late 30's business partnership and couple with a very large under managed woodland to reinstate. We work the forest to source timber from which we produce firewood, charcoal, and speciality pieces all of which we sell locally. We're a bit alternative, and although we run a forest woodland based business which we love and have worked tremendously hard for, we're also both free spirited creative types and enjoy much that life can offer. Nathalie also works as a dancer and model and Kezz writes music for recording artistes and bands. We've recently completed our self built off grid timber and straw bale house, and are now finding this has also provided new working opportunities.

We live 3 miles outside a small village on the Northumberland coast, surrounded by sea, moors, forests and hills. It is a truly beautiful area and suits people who thrive in and are inspired by the great outdoors. Running, yoga, painting, surfing, music and many other fundamental parts of life are all much enjoyed here. We have a wonderful community around us, village life is a big part of who we are and we encourage anyone who stays with us to develop this too. We often meet others in the local pubs to sing and play music, exchange stories, trade products, services and help one another. It's a beautiful area to cycle and run in, though we have a car and are very happy to help you get around. There are local busses that visit the larger market towns from where you can commute to Edinburgh and Newcastle (both with international airports). Our location is entirely off grid. We make own power and water, and there is no landline telephones. We use cell phones for Internet and can even get sky sports via our cells when the surfing, rugby and football is on.

This a great opportunity for an open minded, laid back, quietly hard working, resourceful individual or couple who can bring their own personalities and skills and importantly - learn new ones. There's many projects planned here, from building a smaller off grid cabin in the woods for guests, setting up yoga and massage retreat courses, starting a small no frills campsite where people can go and actually have fun in the countryside, to designing and constructing another ecological conscious building on the beautiful organic farm that surrounds us. Establishing vegetable gardens here at our house, building a fortress for chickens to keep them safe from the foxes. Managing the forests is a big part of what we do here. An interest in woodland stewardship is off some importance. We use methods both new and old to carry out our work. Chainsaws and machinery for heavy work, but a singing voice and hand tool when we can. This kind of woodland management is an ancient way of life often ignored in modern times. It adds value to the land both financially and ecologically, providing habitat for wildlife, healthy timber species for future generations, promoting our business which helps us maintain and develop a really great way to live that incorparates the freedom to do as we choose whilst still being active members of society. Though it may not sound like it, we embrace technology and more modern (digital) means of interaction too. We will to some extent rely on this to develop some aspects of our business and would be very happy to hear from people with photographic, web building, film making skills etc to help with this.

We are presently able to offer accommodation in the shape of a nice little cabin. This comfortably houses a single or a couple. Like the house it's offgrid and so important you're not expecting electric kettles, TV's etc. We suggest you read, paint, sing, have a beer and dance under the stars as we do. We VERY much need help just now with lots of satisfying graft to be done. Very keen to hear from someone with building skills, and/or experienced chainsaw operator with own gear. But we’re happy to hear from non experienced people if you have the right attitude. If you have some time to spare in exchange for food and experience, (this place is an experience??) then we'd love to hear from you. For the right person or couple we'd be happy to consider a longer term arrangement. We need to make very clear we can not give you a salary. We can offer an opportunity to live in a great fun and interesting place that you will be encouraged to become a part of. We are well connected in our area and will always help where possible to secure you other means to earn an income and gain experience. We hope this gives enough information for you to write and discuss further to see if this could be the right place for you.

Kezz & Natta.
