We are trying to make this a paradise for bees. We use permaculture principles and aim to involve our society in transition work to a more sustainable world. We do this by modeling and ‘Walking the talk’.

Just to make a few things clear for you to consider we would like to tell more about this place, who we are, what we do and how we do it, so that it is more clear what to expect.

The Place: Petersholm is a 4 hectares farm which once was a big farm, but sold off most of its land. The buildings are older, but the main house fully renovated and warm. The other buildings are worn and in need of care and new ideas, of which we have many so far and are beginning to realize. There are some nice rooms in the main house available, a cabin, a trailer, some more cabins on the way and a few poor rooms in the barns for staying in the summertime, just like a tent can do the job at times.

The land has only been superficially touched for several years and we are currently ‘designing’and beginning the effort of bringing it up to activity. The plants and crops we chose will have a lot to do with our desire to support bees in nature in a way that is mutually beneficial without harm and creating value at the same time. Currently in the wintertime there is very little work to do with the bees, but come march and then more will happen.

We are: We are a small community of 3-5 and welcome 3-5 volunteers. There are two cats, a dog and a variety of wildlife. Right now we are permanently, Arne (52y, British/Danish), Andrea (55y, Argentine/Danish), Carolina (56y, Colombia) and Lena(67y, Danish). We have frequent B&B guests, and our respective grown kids are often here, just like we have young friends who come and help along on and off. Often the house is teeming with engaged people because we also hold workshops and camps. Luckily there are times of more peaceful earthly work hours as well just to ground us a little more. We are also very conscious about inner transition and deeper connection to nature ourselves and each other

What we do: Depends very much on both weather and season, just like it varies with our different engagements as a place with guests and workshops. There is constant building going on and repairs as well. So this year a terrace and a poly-tunnel was built along with other things. The soil is being prepaired for new plants in small plots and with large variation and permaculture design. We are still in that process so creative energies are active now. We have a running B&B and a small local market-shop on Wednesdays and Fridays where we sell (gift economy) some of our products (like honey and honey-creams, plus some veggies).

How we do it: We are privileged in that we choose fully how to do what we do, just like we can choose to do less of one thing and more of the other only depending on our interest and conscience. Income is more about generating real value and then trusting that to bring income. And then what is real value? So we work with ethics and ‘walking the talk’ of participating in living the change of culture and behavior that points to a better world. We believe in supporting each other to be better people and live good lives in a sustainable caring way.

We live these ideas fully and hope to find engaged volunteers that are not afraid of working and being part of a team, just like we all do long hours of boring stuff at times because it makes sense as well. You should expect to get lots of support to allow you to be fully engaged and we would love to see you work hard and joyfully because it just is great to make a difference. There are many nice things to do in Denmark and all is close by if a bicycle is not too scary for you. You are welcome all year, but July is full of people and tents

What we need: is more information about you, like how long you would like to stay and more about when plus any information you may find important.
