We are John and Patricia, a Dutch couple, who live in Normandy. We speak Dutch and English( and understand German) but from our French you get tears in your eyes.....
So for people who want to improve their French this is probably not the best place to come.....Or you take a 5 minute walk to the local village where ALL people speak French and are very friendly. There are some bars but no night entertainment.
But if you are looking for a beautiful green quiet part of France, this is your place.

Physically and mentally fit people wanted who like to ( help us) maintain a large exciting domain. Come and be part of our family, when we are busy doing our day to day duties. You don't live in our house but have a separate house for yourself, so lots of privacy for you and also for us ;-)
Due to some bad experiences with helpers who saw our place as a cheap resort we now only take helpers with former experience and references.
We like to welcome people who understand the concept of helpx. A generous amount of humour is a plus!

People with organizing skills are very welcome.

Our place is rather quiet but not completely isolated. There is a small village with all commodities (supermarket, pharmacy, bakery's etc,) less than one km from our house. Yes we have some bikes!
We have more than a hectare (3 acres) of (part overgrown) land. Well, to be honest, we had so many great helpers that it feels more like landscaping at the moment! Thank you all!!!!
There is also an organic vegetable garden with a huge polytunnel on it. Lots of strawberries and raspberries the whole summer!
We have so many wishes but not enough time and money to do everything.
That's why we like to see some enthusiastic people with great ideas and outdoor skills to help us. As we have a number of animals (cats, dogs, turkeys, chickens) we would like you to be an animal lover.
In The Netherlands my husband was a veterinarian and we had an animal clinic for small animals.

Minimal stay is three weeks. We prefer people who can stay longer if it works out between us and the other helpers.
We ask for your stay and food, 25 hours work a week in return. Sometimes we switch days and ask you to help a couple of hours during weekends. Only as an exception. We are also flexible about your working days.
We like helpers who can work independently as well as in a group.

See website 1
We offer a detached house with four bedrooms, bathrooms (possibility of sharing the gite, but you always have your own bedroom) This is a rare opportunity to experience family life AND have a lot of privacy!

Great hiking opportunities, the GR 36 lies just behind our house
During summer we visit lots of vide greniers (car boot sales) and you are welcome to join us.
Don't miss our website to see what great things there are to do in the surroundings!!
No public transportation from our house but you can use our city bikes.

You are welcome to join us whenever we have activities beyond the normal working hours.
However we are not a taxi company to bring you to sightseeing places whenever it suits you,......but we try to make time to show you some interesting sites during your stay.

Look at our website for your accommodation. This is your gite, not the main house

Internet acces on our spare PC's and/or WIFI

There are lots of other things to do like making paths through the woods.Making the polytunnel ready for next season. Weeding and clearing the parc. Cooking, household chores, wood splitting( we have a machine for this), brush mowing, building work, you name it and we have it!!
We are making bonfires almost every week, great for cooking the potatoes!
Giving lots of cuddles to our animals.

One of our dear helpers has written a wonderful blog; just copy and paste...

After dinner we expect all helpers help tidy the kitchen and after that you have to entertain yourself ;-)

Never a dull moment and enough time to spend on your own..
During weekends you cook for yourself in your own kitchen but we will provide enough food.

If you'd like to visit, please send a short e-mail and introduce yourself, including a photo or two if it's not already part of your profile. We would like to see whom we are inviting into our home and get a feel for you as a person, so tell us a little about yourself: where you come from, previous work experience, your skills, education, hobbies, and any special food requirements... as long as they are not too complicated. We are not vegetarians but we don't eat meat every day. We don't host strict vegetarians and vegans, sorry I respect your way of life but we as a family don't feel comfortable eating meat with veggies around us.Obviously we'd like to know a bit about somebody before we welcome them as a guest in our home.
As a precaution, we ask to also see a copy of your passport (or official ID) and a valid travel/health ensurance before arrival, I hope you understand and respect this, it's because our helpers do live as part of the family and we need to ensure ourselves that we have taken every measure to ensure everyones security, including our other helpx helpers.

We can collect you from the nearest railway station, Argentan.

Hope to see you soon,

John & Patricia
