Autumn tasks 2017:
Winter's closing in and we still have some urgent task to be done before the snow comes for good. We are renovating/rebuilding parts of the sheep shed (concrete work), building a new entrance to the shed with a new roof (carpenter's work) and have to build up a new chickens house before winter (carpenter's work). We are therefore in need of woofers, who have experience with practical labour and can work independently. Our conditions: Working days Monday-Friday 08:00 - 16:00, weekends off, great hiking area, northern lights, free boat use, free barbecue shelter on the mountain, bicycles.

General description:
This is an organic farm established in 1935. It is beautifully situated in northern Norway with mid-night sun during summers and northern lights during winters. The farm has not been run for the recent 10 years but is now restarting with new owners.

We are a young family of 5, Sarah (37), Tino (35), Nemi (8), Kalle (7) and Ilya (2). Living in northern Norway. Recently, we bought a farm, that has not been run for the last 10 years or so and are now re-starting. Sarah is a veterinarian, Tino is taxidermist, both are working at Malangseidet, where the farm is situated. The farm Høier was established in 1935. Today it consists of several buildings, including a guest house, where guest-workers are staying and a mountain cabin at the treeline of the mountains close-by.

Working tasks:
Currently, we have enlarged our sheep herd to 35 animals that will get lambs in May. We have rabbits, horses, turkeys, chickens, goat kids and dogs. This year, the main working tasks will concentrate on continuing deforesting, clearing pastures and building fences. You should not be afraid of physical labor outdoors. You will also be taught to use gasoline driven saws such as a shrub cutter. Additionally, you have to feed and look after all animals on the farm. Helpers will also look after our son Ilya. The tasks will change during the summer season, which at this sub-arctic location will not start before mid-may and ends at the end of august.

Working agreement:
If you would like joining us on our farm Høier, you will have free accommodation in the guest house together with other helpers. You will have your own room and share living room, bath and kitchen with other helpers. Working days are monday-friday 08:00 - 16:00, weekends are off. You may also use for free: horses, if you are experienced with riding, barbecue shelter at the tree line at the mountain closeby, rowing boat and fishing gear, bicycles.

Practical information:
Shop at Meistervik: 8 km, airport in Tromsø: 60 km, fjord: 1 km, neighbour: 200 m, great possibilities for hiking, riding, fishing, outdoors activities.

Take the plane to Tromsø where we will pick you up from the airport. There is bus shuttle between Tromsø and Malangseidet two times per day.
