Hello! Ciao! We are Resi and Vince. We are pretty new owners of 12 acres paradise in the making! We moved in in September 2016, and we are eager to give back to the Workaway community and welcome some helpers!

Our journey started in 2013, when we packed up our home in North Wales and travelled to Australia, New Zealand and Italy, mostly thanks to Workaway hosts. We have learnt a huge wealth of information, visited amazing places and make great forever friends*?????. We have now decided to give something back to the Workaway community.

Resi, 45, is Italian but lived for over 20years in the UK before moving to Australia, thanks to Vince, 38, who is Australian and together we have settled in North East Victoria, in a lovely town called Beechworth.

As we mentioned, our new home is a 12 acres lifestyle block and is a bit of an empty canvas. So it is ideal if you like to make an impact and would like to be part of designing a new permaculture project. There is a bit of everything that needs doing. We would like your help to map out the land, set-up a Ďstartí off the vegetable patch, plant trees, tend to the chickens and choose which plants to grow (expect trips to garden centre, in the name of research of course!). But there is also work to be done indoors, such as finishing putting plasterboard up and painting, fixing skirting board and architraves. Donít worry if you donít know what you are doing, it will be a just question of time!

Resi teaches Italian in Beechworth and also for the summer months will work in the local Brewery. Vince works full-time as a summer crew firefighter. We both enjoy travelling, discover new places, the outdoors and sustainable lifestyles. Resi particularly enjoys growing vegetables, preserving the harvest and she is also a bit of an IT geek. Vince is an outdoor sports fan, from mountain biking, wild swimming, trail running and more. New hobby includes home brewing and enjoying the product of his hard work. We both have a love for food and cooking, and socialising.

...and we are getting married in 2019!

We host helpers on 21hrs in exchange for all week food and lodging. We will provide all the food you need for all the time you are staying with us and a comfy place to sleep. We do eat meat, however during summer time is mostly vegetarian, with some yummy bacon or something! If you are vegetarian or vegan, letís chat - that is not an issue - but we will need to do some extra planning! Resi used to be vegan and we also like to eat vegetarian, so itís not a problem. This also applies to any other dietary requirements within reason. And if you enjoy cooking, we most definitely will like to hear from you!

We have plenty to do on the farm before the wedding takes place, therefore we have decided to be quite strategic on our helpers offering. Therefore we are looking to welcome:

A MARKET GARDENER IN THE MAKING.
You will be helping Resi on the land - primarily in the large veggie patch and orchard. The best bits will be sowing seeds and planting out, harvesting and watering. But there will also be making compost, spreading manure, weeding and mulch spreading. We grow our vegetable on deep mulch organic system (google Ruth Strout for more info). Whilst the veggie garden will be the main focus of your attention, there will also be some other area of the 12 acres that might need some attention, such as the wildlife area and fences maintenance. This opportunity would suit someone who has an interesting in vegetable growing and would like to learn from an experience by time poor grower.

AN AU-PAIR FOR GROWN UPS!
You will help us out moving forward with house renovations and DIY work completions by making lunches and helping out in housekeeping chores (these will be shared but one off jobs like cleaning windows for example or cupboards would be yours) freeing us plenty of time so we can continue the bigger jobs around the farm so that we can feel a bit more prepared for the wedding. It would suit someone who is interested in cooking and would like to learn more about food preserving. We would like to be clear this is not a cleaner job, it's about helping us getting the bigger jobs done so that we can move forward.

Whatís to do on your day off? Beechworth is a gold mining town with heaps and heaps of history and character. Google it and look for the 'Explore Beechworth', there are plenty of videos to inspire you. During winter we are about 1.5-2hrs drive to the ski slopes of Falls Creek and Mount Hotham (note, there are a few charges to access the ski fields - ask us about it!) Bushwalking and camping abounds and there are lots of free camping places to go and explore. We are also in a prime wine making area, cycle tracks abound and if micro brewing interests you, every local town has at least one micro-brewery!

If you wish to visit North East Victoria and save some money on your great Aussie experience this is something worth considering. We are flexible on when you do your hours and Beechworth has got plenty of cafes and hospitality places to earn some extra much needed travelling fund, and at the right time of the year, there is plenty of harvest and vineyard work for you to also gain your visa days (check postcode is allowed by your WHV> 3747)

Whilst we are seeking helper that are looking to stay for a longer time, we think it is only fair to have a checkpoint after a week, to ensure we are both happy to work together.

If you like the sound of what we have to offer, get in touch and find out more. Couple/friends are welcome.

PLEASE NOTE 2: we are about 6km from town, that is 20min bike ride or 1.5hr walk. if you don't have your own transport, we have bikes you can borrow.
